He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1966 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1971.

Herman James Stegeman was a player and coach of American football, basketball, baseball, and track and field athletics, and a college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Beloit College (1915), Monmouth College (1916–1917), and the University of Georgia (1920–1922), compiling a career college football coaching record of 29–17–6. At Georgia, Stegeman was also the head basketball coach (1919–1931), head baseball coach (1919–1920), and head track and field coach (1920–1937).

William Alexander Cunningham was an American college football and college basketball coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Georgia from 1910 to 1919, compiling a record of 43–18–9. Cunningham was also the head basketball coach at Georgia, tallying a mark of 10–6.

The Georgia Bulldogs men's basketball program is the men's college basketball team representing the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. Established in 1891, the team has competed in the Southeastern Conference since its inception in 1932. As of 2020 the Bulldogs have amassed a record of 1,434–1,319. Though it has been historically overshadowed by the school's football program, the Bulldogs' basketball squad has had its share of successes, including a trip to the NCAA Final Four in 1983 under head coach Hugh Durham.

Larner Somers Gardner Conover was a professional American football player who played during the early years of the National Football League (NFL). After attending high school in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Conover attended Penn State University, where he served as the team's captain in 1917. Conover was the head basketball and baseball coach and an assistant football coach at Clemson for the 1920–21 seasons.

Rupert McAdoo "Rupe" Smith was an American football and baseball player from Tennessee. Smith was the leading scorer on Dan McGugin's 1921 Vanderbilt Commodores football team which shared a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA) title, and was retroactively selected for a national title by Clyde Berryman. Smith had previously played for the Middle Tennessee State football team.

Owen Gaston Reynolds was an American football player in the National Football League (NFL). Reynolds played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs of the University of Georgia, receiving All-Southern honors in 1919, 1920, and 1921. In the 1920 season, he was only knocked off his feet once. Virginia used three men to knock him down. He was captain of the 1921 team. He was nominated though not selected for an Associated Press All-Time Southeast 1869-1919 era team. In 1925 he played for the New York Giants in their inaugural season, making him the first Bulldog to play in the NFL.
