The Oklahoma Sooners are the athletic teams that represent the University of Oklahoma, located in Norman. The 19 men's and women's varsity teams are called the "Sooners", a reference to a nickname given to the early participants in the Land Run of 1889, which initially opened the Unassigned Lands in the future state of Oklahoma to non-native settlement. The university's athletic teams compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)'s Division I in the Big 12 Conference. The university's current athletic director is Joe Castiglione.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys wrestling team is the most successful NCAA Division I program of all time in any sport. As of 2021–2022, Oklahoma State wrestling has won 34 team national championships, 143 individual NCAA championships, and 485 All-American honors.
The Kent State Golden Flashes are the athletic teams that represent Kent State University. The university fields 19 varsity athletic teams in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level with football competing in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Kent State is a full member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and has been part of the MAC East division since it was created in 1998. Official school colors are Kent State Blue and Kent State Gold.
The Central Oklahoma Bronchos, are the intercollegiate athletic teams representing University of Central Oklahoma, located in Edmond, Oklahoma. The five men's and nine women's varsity teams are called the "Bronchos". The school's identification as Bronchos dates back to 1922, when the wife of football coach Charles W. Wantland suggested it for the school's mascot. The official colors of the teams are bronze and blue, which the institution adopted in 1895. The Bronchos compete in the NCAA's Division II and in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association in all sports except women's rowing, which competes in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The Bronchos have won 22 national championships, with the most recent coming in 2024 as the wrestling program won the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships. The university's current athletic director is Stan Wagnon, who has served in the position since 2020.
Oklahoma City hosted the 2006 NCAA Wrestling Team Championship from March 16–18, 2006. 64 teams vied for the NCAA team championship, and over 320 wrestlers competed for individual honors. Oklahoma State University crowned two individual champions and four other Cowboys qualified as All-Americans as the Cowboys earned a dominant victory in the tournament. It was the 4th consecutive NCAA tournament victory by the Cowboys, and their 34th NCAA team wrestling championship overall.
The NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships have been held since 1928. In addition to determining the national champion in each weight class, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships also determine All-American wrestlers for each weight. The top eight finishers in each weight class earn All-American status. Historically, the top four teams earned podium and team trophy finishes. Starting with the 2024 Championships, only the top three teams receive these honors.
The 1936 NCAA Wrestling Championships involved eleven teams to determine the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) college wrestling national champion, and each wrestler competed for individual championships. The 9th edition of the tournament began on March 20, 1936, and concluded on March 21. Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia hosted the tournament at Doremus Gymnasium.

The 1937 NCAA Wrestling Championships were the 10th NCAA Wrestling Championships to be held. Indiana State Teachers College in Terre Haute, Indiana hosted the tournament at their school gymnasium.
The 1938 NCAA Wrestling Championships were the 11th NCAA Wrestling Championships to be held. Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania hosted the tournament at Rec Hall.
The 1942 NCAA Wrestling Championships were the 15th NCAA Wrestling Championships to be held. Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan hosted the tournament at Jenison Fieldhouse.
The 1946 NCAA Wrestling Championships were the 16th NCAA Wrestling Championships to be held. Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, Oklahoma hosted the tournament at Gallagher Hall, March 22–23, 1946.
The 1949 NCAA Wrestling Championships were the 19th NCAA Wrestling Championships to be held. Colorado A&M in Fort Collins, Colorado hosted the tournament at their South College Gymnasium.
The 1952 NCAA Wrestling Championships were the 22nd NCAA Wrestling Championships to be held. Colorado A&M in Fort Collins, Colorado hosted the tournament at their South College Gymnasium.
The 1954 NCAA Wrestling Championships were the 24th NCAA Wrestling Championships to be held. The University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma hosted the tournament at McCasland Field House.
