The incumbent Labor Party administration was defeated, with the Liberal Party winning more than 50% of the vote. Liberal candidate Sallyanne Atkinson defeated Roy Harvey in the lord mayoral election. [2] As of 2024, Atkinson is the first and only female Lord Mayor of Brisbane. [3]
