The 1992 season was the 62nd season of competitive football in Ukraine and the first season of fully independent Ukraine following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. This year the Ukrainian Association of Football (as Football Federation of Ukraine) was granted a membership to the international football organizations FIFA and UEFA and allowed to send its clubs to the UEFA continental competitions.

For the first time such former Soviet clubs like FC Dynamo Kyiv and FC Chornomorets Odesa which represented the Soviet Union at European competitions since 1960s qualified for the UEFA competitions representing native Ukrainian nation. For the first time since 1948 FC Dynamo Kyiv returned to compete at the Ukrainian Cup, previously as the Football Cup of the Ukrainian SSR. The champions title of SC Tavriya Simferopol was the first in independent Ukraine and the fourth including competitions of the Football Championship of the Ukrainian SSR.

National team

In 1992, Ukraine national football team conducted its first matches as representatives of now independent Ukraine and FIFA members. The first game was a match between Ukraine and Hungary held on 29 April 1992 at Avanhard Stadium in Uzhhorod, which was the first international home game for Ukraine, saw the first official goal and ended with a 1–3 defeat. The second game in a season took place on 27 June with the United States on away field, and ended in a 0–0 draw, recording a first point for the national team.

Sports Club Tavriya was a Ukrainian football club from Simferopol. Tavriya was a member of the Ukrainian Premier League from its founding and won the first Ukrainian Premier League making them one of three teams that have ever held this title.

The 1992–93 Vyshcha Liha season was the second since its establishment. Tavriya Simferopol were the defending champions, having won their 1st national league title in history. A total of sixteen teams participated in the competition, fourteen of them contested the 1992 season while the remaining two were promoted from the Ukrainian First League.

1992 Vyshcha Liha was the first football championship organized in Ukraine after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and officially recognized by the UEFA. The last Soviet season finished in fall of 1991.

The 2007–08 Vyshcha Liha season is the seventeenth since its establishment. This season competition was sponsored by Biola which became the title sponsor of the League for the season. It began on 17 July 2007, and ended on 18 May 2008. 16 teams participated in the competition, 14 of which contested in the 2006–07 season, and two of which were promoted from the Ukrainian First League.

The 1992 Ukrainian Transitional League was the first season of 3rd level professional football in Ukraine. After this season the Transitional League has split into Second League and Transitional League. The competition was divided into two groups according to geographical location in the country – 1 is western Ukraine and northeastern Ukraine, while 2 is eastern Ukraine and southern Ukraine. The season stretched from April 4, 1992, through July 4, 1992.

The 2006–07 Ukrainian Cup was the 16th annual edition of Ukraine's football knockout competition, the Ukrainian Cup. The winner of this competition was Dynamo Kyiv which also was defending its title.

The 2008–09 Ukrainian Premier League season was the eighteenth since its establishment. The league was restructured and split off from the Professional Football League of Ukraine. It was officially named as the EpiCentre Championship of Ukraine in football.

The 1992–93 season was the second season of competitive football in Ukraine.

The 1993–94 Ukrainian Cup was the third annual edition of Ukraine's football knockout competition, known as the Ukrainian Cup.

The 2010–11 Ukrainian Premier League season was the 20th since its establishment and third since its reorganization. Shakhtar Donetsk were the defending champions, having won their 5th league title. A total of sixteen teams participated in the competition, fourteen of them contested the 2009–10 season while the remaining two were promoted from the Ukrainian First League.

The 2010–11 FC Shakhtar Donetsk season saw the club complete a domestic treble, winning their sixth Ukrainian Premier League, seventh Ukrainian Cup and third Ukrainian Super Cup. Shakhtar also competed in the UEFA Champions League, reaching the quarter-finals before being eliminated by Barcelona.

The 2011–12 Dnipro season was the club's 21st campaign in the Ukrainian Premier League, and their second season under manager Juande Ramos. The club finished the season in 4th place, whilst also reaching the Last 16 of the Ukrainian Cup and the play-off Round of the UEFA Europa League where they were eliminated by Fulham.

The 2012–13 Ukrainian Premier League season was the 22nd since its establishment in 1991 and fifth since its reorganisation.

The 2013–14 Ukrainian Premier League season was the 23rd since its establishment.

The 2014–15 Ukrainian Premier League season was the 24th since its establishment. The competition commenced on 25 July when Metalurh Donetsk hosted Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in Lviv. With the continuation of the 2014 pro-Russian conflict in Ukraine in the oblasts of Donetsk and Luhansk the Football Federation of Ukraine, the league reduced the number of teams.

The 1992 Vyshcha Liha Final is a football match that was played at the Ukraina Stadium, Lviv on June 21, 1992. The match was the 1st league's final and was contested by both groups leaders Tavriya Simferopol and Dynamo Kyiv.

The 2019–20 Ukrainian Cup was the 29th annual season of Ukraine's football knockout competition. The competition started on 20 August 2019 and concluded on 8 July 2020 with the final at the OSC Metalist in Kharkiv.

The 2005–06 season is FC Metalist Kharkiv's 61st season in existence and the club's 2nd consecutive season in the top flight of Ukrainian football. In addition to the domestic league, Metalist Kharkiv participated in that season's edition of the Ukrainian Cup. The season covers the period from 1 July 2005 to 30 June 2006.
