Parliamentary elections were held in Northern Cyprus on 12 December 1993. [1] Although the ruling National Unity Party (UBP) received the most votes, a government was formed by the opposition Democratic Party and the Republican Turkish Party, [1] making this the first time the National Unity Party had lost power.

Giorgos Vasos Vassiliou is a Cypriot politician, who served as President of Cyprus from 1988 to 1993. He was also the President of United Democrats from 1996 to 2005 and Member of the Cypriot House of Representatives from 1996 to 2001. Prior to entering politics, he was a successful businessman.
The Republican Turkish Party is a social-democratic political party in Northern Cyprus. The party was founded in 1970 by Ahmet Mithat Berberoğlu, a lawyer, in opposition to the leadership of Fazıl Küçük and Rauf Denktaş.
Early parliamentary elections were held in Northern Cyprus on 20 February 2005, after the coalition government led by Mehmet Ali Talat lost its majority in the House of Representatives. The vote was a resounding victory for Mehmet Ali Talat's CTP-United Forces alliance, although it fell just short of a majority. The UBP, Democratic Party and BDH also crossed the 5% election threshold and won seats in the House.

The National Unity Party is a political party in Northern Cyprus. The UBP party was founded by Rauf Denktaş on 11 October 1975. The party was in power from its creation until the 2003 elections with the exception of the period from 1994–1996. Ideologically, it has been variously described as conservative, Turkish nationalism, liberal conservative, and national-conservative. The party is positioned on the right-wing of the political spectrum, and it supports a two-state solution to the Cyprus dispute. Until April 2022, the party was a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists Party, which it had joined in April 2017.
The Politics of Northern Cyprus takes place in a framework of a semi-presidential representative democratic republic, whereby the president is head of state and the prime minister is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the Assembly of the Republic. The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.

Mustafa Çağatay was a Turkish Cypriot politician who served as the first Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus from 15 November 1983 to 13 December 1983. He was previously prime minister of the Turkish Federated State of Cyprus from 1978 to 1983.

İrsen Küçük was a Turkish Cypriot politician who was Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus from 2010 to 2013. He was the nephew of the Republic of Cyprus's first vice-president, Fazıl Küçük.

Parliamentary elections were held in Northern Cyprus on 6 May 1990. Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu is a Turkish Cypriot politician. He served as a member of the Assembly of the Republic representing the Lefkoşa District between 1998 and 2018. During this time, he was a member of the National Unity Party (UBP) between 1998 and 2010, serving as the leader of the party between 2006 and 2008. He returned to the UBP in 2012 and remained its representative until the end of his tenure as an MP. He served in different ministerial positions, including a five-year tenure as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense between 1998 and 2004.
Ömer Soyer Kalyoncu is a Turkish Cypriot politician who was the Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus between 16 July 2015 and April 2016.
Lefteris Christoforou is a Greek Cypriot politician. He has been a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) since 2014 and is Head of National Delegation in the European People's Party. He is a member of the Democratic Rally (DISY) and he served as Vise President from 2003 to 2013 and also as Deputy Chairman from 2013 to 2019. He was a member of the Cyprus Parliament from 1996 to 2014 and represented Famagusta.
Snap parliamentary elections were held in Northern Cyprus on 23 January 2022. Going into the election, the government was led by Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu of the National Unity Party (UBP). The Sucuoğlu cabinet, was formed in November 2021 and was a minority coalition government of the National Unity Party (UBP) and the Democratic Party (DP). It functioned as a caretaker government until the snap election.
