Rotterdam Ahoy is a convention centre and multi-purpose indoor arena located in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The 2008 Men's European Volleyball League was the fifth edition of the European Volleyball League, organised by Europe's governing volleyball body, the CEV. The final Four was held in Bursa, Turkey from 19 to 20 July 2008.

The number one to six from the 1999 edition of the Men's European Volleyball Championship — Italy, Yugoslavia, Russia, France, Czech Republic and the Netherlands — were automatically qualified for the 2001 edition. The 2011 Men's European Volleyball League was the eighth edition of the annual Men's European Volleyball League, which featured men's national volleyball teams from twelve European countries: Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Croatia, Great Britain, Greece, Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Turkey. The 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix was the 24th edition of the annual women's international volleyball tournament played by 28 teams from 3 June to 10 July 2016. The Group 1 final round was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Brazil captured their record eleventh title in the tournament after a 3–2 win over defending champions United States. In the bronze medal match, The Netherlands prevailed in five sets over Russia. Natália Pereira was elected the most valuable player.

The 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship was the 19th staging of the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship, contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB). The Netherlands and Poland were dual hosts for this event.

The final tournament was held in Netherlands and Poland from 23 September to 15 October 2022.
