Kingdom of Nepal 1768–2008 kingdom in South Asia

The Kingdom of Nepal, also known as the Gorkha Kingdom or Gorkha Empire or Asal Hindustan, was a Hindu kingdom in South Asia, formed in 1768, by the unification of Nepal. Founded by King Prithvi Narayan Shah, a Gorkha monarch who claimed to be of Rajput origin, it existed for 240 years until the abolition of the Nepalese monarchy in 2008. During this period, Nepal was formally under the rule of the Shah dynasty, which exercised varying degrees of power during the kingdom's existence.

He has previously served four terms as the prime minister and is the Member of Parliament for the parliamentary constituency of Dadeldhura–1. Krishna Das Shrestha was the party president.

Armed Police Force Paramilitary land counter-insurgency force

The Armed Police Force, Nepal is a paramilitary land force tasked with counter-insurgency operations in Nepal. It functions as a semi-military wing, and occupies a sort of dual role as both military and law enforcement. Service is voluntary and the minimum age for enlistment is 18 years. Initially founded with a roster of 15,000 police and military personnel, the Armed Police Force is projected to have a corps of 77,117 at the close of 2015.

Interim legislature of Nepal 2007–2008 government of Nepal

Nepal's King Gyanendra dissolved the Parliament of Nepal in 2002. and on January 15, 2007, a new Interim legislature was formed. The old parliament was elected in 1999. The new interim legislature consisted of members of the old parliament as well as new members appointed by an agreement between the Seven Party Alliance and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist).

General Rookmangud Katawal is a former Nepalese Army General, who served as the Chief of Army Staff of the Nepal Army from 2006 to 2009. General Katawal has come across controversy after the then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal unilaterally decided to sack Katawal on May 3, 2009.

Krishna Mohan Shrestha was the first Inspector General of Armed Police Force (Nepal).

Gyanendra Khadka was a journalist of Nepal who was killed by Maoist insurgents during the Maoist insurgency in Nepal. He was brutally murdered by a group of Maoist rebels on 7 September 2003, in Jyamire village of Sindhupalchok District, Nepal. At age of 35, Khadka was working as a reporter with the state-owned news agency Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS),. Khadka was abducted from a school in the village by four gunmen and they tied his hands with a rope. When his wife searched for and discovered him, he was tied to a volleyball pole in the middle of the village. The rebels then slit his throat with a Khukuri in front of his wife.

2017 Nepalese general election

General elections were held in Nepal in two phases on 26 November and 7 December 2017 to elect the 275 members of the fifth House of Representatives, the lower house of the Federal Parliament of Nepal. The election was held alongside the first provincial elections for the seven provincial assemblies. A political deadlock between the governing Nepali Congress and the winning left-wing coalition over the system used to elect the upper house led to delay in forming the new government. Following the announcement of final result by the Election Commission, K.P. Oli of Communist Party of Nepal was sworn in as Prime Minister on 15 February 2018 by the President according to Article 76 (2) of the constitution. He passed a Motion of Confidence on 11 March 2018 with 208 votes.

1st Federal Parliament of Nepal First Federal Parliament of the Federal Republic of Nepal

The First Federal Parliament of Nepal, consisting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly, was elected via the 2017 legislative, provincial and local elections. 165 members were elected via first-past-the-post system and 110 through the proportional representation system to form the 275-member House of Representatives for a five-year term. On 7 February 2018, the provincial electoral colleges, composed of provincial assembly members elected in the provincial elections and chairs and deputy-chairs of local administrative units elected in the local elections, elected eight members each, for a total of 56 elected members, and three more were appointed by the President as nominated by the government, to form the 59 member National Assembly. The National Assembly members drew lots to determine the thirds whose terms would be of two, four and six years respectively. On 23 January 2020, the National Assembly electoral college met for the second time to elect 18 of the 19 Class I members. The House of Representatives was dissolved on 20 December 2020 by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the request of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli's cabinet. The House was reinstated on 24 February 2021 following a decision by the Supreme Court of Nepal. The House of Representatives was again dissolved on 22 May 2021 by President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
