Mayor Soledad "Soleng" Eusebio was on her first term. Although eligible to run for second term, she did not ran. Her husband, former Mayor Vicente "Enteng" Eusebio ran for her place instead. Eusebio was challenged by former Rep. Henry Lanot of Lakas–CMD, Charmie "Claire" Benavidez, Alexander "Alex" Iglesias, Vicente "Buddy" Fabella, Belen Bueno of DGIPP, and Vener "Nher" Obispo of PIBID.
Vice Mayor Lorna Angeles-Bernardo was on her third term, and she was term-limited. Her place was contested by Second District Councilor Rosalio "Yoyong" Martirez, Angelito "Lito" Comsti, Briccio "Echie" Ramos, Wainwright "Win" Rivera, Elino "Lino" Manalo, and Martin Torres.
Rep. Henry Lanot was unseated on August 11, 2001, following his re-election. He was replaced by his opponent, Noel "Toti" Cariño. [1] Cariño was declared as duly elected representative after winning against Lanot of 1,369 votes. [2] Cariño faced prominent candidates, including Former San Juan Councilor Robert "Dodot" Jaworski Jr. Atty. Roman Romulo, and Vice Mayor Lorna Angeles-Bernardo.

On April 13, 2005, defeated mayoral candidate and former Rep. Henry Lanot was slain while having lunch with his friends at Jade Palace Restaurant. Among them was former Caloocan Rep. Romeo Santos, who was not hurt after the incident. [5] Lanot was laid to rest in Pasig Catholic Cemetery one week after. [6]
