The 2006 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Nottingham, United Kingdom from 24 to 27 August 2006 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA) at the Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre. It was the 8th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 4th edition for the Under 23 category. A total of 15 medal events took place. No medals were awarded for the U23 men's C2 team event due to low number of participating countries.

Matej Beňuš is a Slovak slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2002.

The 2002 European Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Bratislava, Slovakia between 12 and 14 July 2002 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 4th edition of the senior championships. It was also the 1st edition of the Under 23 European Championships, which in the following years were held together with the Junior European Championships. The team events were held as an open event for both senior and U23 athletes. Countries were allowed to enter two teams in each team event. The races took place at the Čunovo Water Sports Centre on an offshoot of the Danube river.

The 2017 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Hohenlimburg, Germany from 17 to 20 August 2017 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 19th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 15th edition for the Under 23 category. The men's C2 team events did not take place. The men's C2 junior event did not count as a medal event due to insufficient number of participating countries. An event must have at least 5 nations taking part in order to count as a medal event.

The 2014 ICF World Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Penrith, Australia from 23 to 27 April 2014 under the auspices of the International Canoe Federation (ICF) at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium. The 2019 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia from 4 to 7 July 2019 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA) at the Ondrej Cibak Whitewater Slalom Course. It was the 21st edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 17th edition for the Under 23 category. A total of 16 medal events took place, 8 in each of the two age categories.
