The 2006 FIBA Africa Basketball Club Championship (21st edition), was an international basketball tournament held in Lagos, Nigeria, from November 18 to 26, 2006. The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa and hosted by Dodan Warriors, was contested by 12 clubs split into 2 groups of 6, the first four of which qualifying for the knock-out stage.

The Angolan men's national basketball team is controlled by the Federação Angolana de Basquetebol. Angola has been a member of FIBA since 1979. Ranking 23rd in the FIBA World Rankings, Angola is the top team of FIBA Africa, and a regular competitor at the Summer Olympic Games and the FIBA World Cup.

The FIBA Africa Basketball League was the highest caliber men's professional basketball competition for clubs until 2020, organized by the FIBA Africa and played by the champions of the leagues of the African countries. The league was replaced by the Basketball Africa League (BAL) from 2020.

The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa and hosted by Abidjan Basket Club, was contested by 7 teams in a preliminary round robin system followed by a knockout stage by the top four teams.

The 2004 FIBA Africa Basketball Club Championship, was an international basketball tournament held in Cairo, Egypt, from November 20 to 27, 2004. The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa and hosted by Al Ahly, was contested by 7 teams in two groups, in a preliminary round robin system followed by a knockout stage.

Abidjan Basket Club Fighters, commonly known as ABC Fighters, is an Ivorian basketball club based in the city of Abidjan. Founded in 1997, the team is the most successful men teams in the country, with 19 national championships won, and one continental FIBA Africa Champions Cup in 2005. The home arena of the team is the Palais des Sports de Treichville.
