The 2008 City of Ipswich 400 is the seventh round of the 2008 V8 Supercar season. It was held on the weekend of July 18 to 20 at Queensland Raceway in Ipswich, Queensland.

The 2008 V8 Supercar season is the twelfth series in which V8Supercars contested the senior Australian touring car series. It is the 49th year of touring car racing in Australia since the first runnings of the Australian Touring Car Championship, known today as the V8 Supercar Championship Series, and the fore-runner of the present day Bathurst 1000, the Armstrong 500.

Queensland Raceway motorsport track in Australia

Queensland Raceway nicknamed "the paperclip" is a motor racing circuit located at Willowbank in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. The circuit plays host to V8 Supercars, the Australian Superbike Championship, drifting as well as club level racing and ride days.

Ipswich is an urban region in south-east Queensland, Australia, which is located in the south-west of the Brisbane metropolitan area. Situated on the Bremer River, it is approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) west of the Brisbane CBD. A local government area, the City of Ipswich has a population of 200,000. The city is renowned for its architectural, natural and cultural heritage. Ipswich preserves and operates from many of its historical buildings, with more than 6000 heritage-listed sites and over 500 parks. Ipswich began in 1827 as a mining settlement.

Practice

Practice featured another opportunity for teams to test endurance co-drivers with Steve Owen ending up the fastest of those drivers in the Jim Beam Racing Falcon, second only in the session to Russell Ingall. Warren Luff was fifth fastest in the second Jim Beam Falcon just ahead of Paul Radisich in the HSV Dealer Team Commodore. Next were Craig Baird (Holden Racing Team) and David Besnard (Stone Brothers Racing). Other co-drivers in the session were Dean Canto (Ford Performance Racing), Glenn Seton (Holden Racing Team), Jason Bargwanna (Rod Nash Racing), Grant Denyer (Ford Rising Stars Racing), Luke Youlden (Ford Performance Racing), Mark Noske (Tasman Motorsport), Jack Perkins (Jack Daniel's Racing), Adam Macrow driving the Team Kiwi Racing Falcon instead of for his enduro team Britek Motorsport, Brad Jones (Brad Jones Racing) and David Reynolds (HSV Dealer Team).

Russell Ingall Australian racecar driver

Russell Ingall is a former full-time Australian V8 Supercar driver. Ingall became the V8 Supercar Champion in 2005, he was also the Championship runner up in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2004. Ingall has also won the Bathurst 1000 motor race twice, in 1995 and 1997. His particular driving style earned him the nickname "Enforcer".

Paul Radisich is a retired New Zealand racing driver and businessman of Croat origin. He has competed in saloon cars for many years — both European-style tourers and the V8 Supercars of Australia and New Zealand.

The HSV Dealer Team, previously known as the K-Mart Racing Team, was an Australian V8 Supercar team. The team ceased operations at the end of 2008, with Walkinshaw Racing and Kelly Racing being formed by owners and staff of the former team. The team is best known for winning the Bathurst 1000 in 2003 and 2004 and the V8 Supercars championship in 2006 and 2007.

2008 V8 Supercar Championship Series

The 2008 V8 Supercar Championship Series was the tenth V8 Supercar Championship Series and the twelfth series in which V8 Supercars contested the premier Australian touring car title. The championship began on 21 February at the Clipsal 500 on the streets of Adelaide and finished on 7 December at Oran Park Raceway. It consisted of 14 rounds covering all states and the Northern Territory of Australia as well as rounds in New Zealand and Bahrain.

The 2008 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 was the twelfth running of the Australian 1000 race, first held after the organisational split over the Bathurst 1000 that occurred in 1997. It was the 52nd race tracing its lineage back to the 1960 Armstrong 500 held at Phillip Island.

The 2007 V8 Supercar season featured the ninth V8 Supercar Championship Series which began on 1 March and finished on 2 December. This championship consisted of 14 rounds covering all states and the Northern Territory of Australia as well as rounds in New Zealand and Bahrain. The series also carried the Australian Touring Car Championship title, which was awarded by CAMS for the forty eighth time in 2007.

The 2004 Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series was an Australian touring car series held for V8 Supercars. It was the fifth series held for second tier V8 Supercar teams. The season began on 22 February 2004 at Wakefield Park and finished on 22 August at Mallala Motor Sport Park. The season consisted of six rounds held across four different states, returning to Queensland for the first time since 2001.

The 2011 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 was an Australian touring car motor race for V8 Supercars. The race was on Sunday, 9 October 2011 at the Mount Panorama Circuit just outside Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia and was Race 20 of the 2011 International V8 Supercars Championship. It was the fifteenth running of the Australian 1000 race, first held after the organisational split over the Bathurst 1000 that occurred in 1997. It was also the 55th race for which the lineage can be traced back to the 1960 Armstrong 500 held at Phillip Island.

The 2012 International V8 Supercar Championship was an FIA sanctioned international motor racing series for V8 Supercars. It was the fourteenth running of the V8 Supercar Championship Series and the sixteenth series in which V8 Supercars have contested the premier Australian touring car title. The championship began on 1 March at the Clipsal 500, with the Adelaide event returning to its place as the opening round, and finished on 2 December at the Homebush Street Circuit. The 53rd Australian Touring Car Championship title was awarded to the winner of the Drivers' Championship by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport.

Chaz Mostert Australian racing driver

Chaz Mostert is an Australian professional racing driver competing in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. He currently drives the No. 55 Ford Mustang GT for Tickford Racing. Mostert was the winner of the 2014 Bathurst 1000 with Paul Morris and has also previously won the 2010 Australian Formula Ford Championship.
