The 2011 ITU Triathlon Team World Cup was held in Lausanne Switzerland on 21 August 2011. The championship was the sixth edition to be held and the third since the championships were reformatted in 2009; eliminating the separate male and female teams, running the championships with coed teams.
Each team was allowed to enter 2 teams of four, made up of 2 females and 2 males. The teams competed in the following order of female–male–female–male. Each athlete completed a 265-metre swim, a 5 kilometre bike ride and a 1.2 kilometre run. [1] Due to safety reasons the first athlete completed a longer, 500 metre swim instead. [2]
Since the reformatted event began, Switzerland came into the competition winning both previous championships. In 2011, they settled with the silver medal as Great Britain's team of 2008 World Champion Helen Jenkins, 2010 and 2011 World Sprint Champion Jonathan Brownlee, Jodie Stimpson and 2009 World Champion Alistair Brownlee took the title. He is the only athlete to hold two Olympic titles in the triathlon event, winning gold medals in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games and the only man to have won Olympic Gold whilst going into the event as favourite for the title. He is also a two-time Triathlon World Champion, a two-time World Team Champion, a four-time European Champion, and the 2014 Commonwealth champion.
Francisco Javier Gómez Noya is a Spanish triathlete. He is the winner of five ITU Triathlon World Championships, he holds three ITU Triathlon World Cup titles, and won the Silver medal for Spain at the 2012 Summer Olympics in men's triathlon. He has also won world titles for Ironman 70.3 and XTERRA Triathlon.
The ITU World Triathlon Series is the International Triathlon Union's annual series of triathlon events used to crown an annual world champion. There are multiple rounds of competitions culminating in a Grand Final race. Athletes compete head-to-head for points in these races that will determine the overall ITU world champion. The elite championship races are held over two distances the standard and the sprint distance.
Laura Marie Bennett is an American professional triathlete. She placed fourth in the women's triathlon at the 2008 Summer Olympics. In 2012, she finished 17th at the London Olympic Games. She earned a silver medal at the World Triathlon Championships in 2003 and bronze medals in 2004, 2005, and 2007. She has also raced as a professional at the Half-Ironman distance, placing 5th at the 2009 Ironman 70.3 World Championship.
Jonathan Callum Brownlee is a British professional duathlete and triathlete. He was the 2012 Triathlon World Champion, and the silver medalist in 2013 and 2016.
The Dextro Energy Triathlon – ITU World Championship Series 2011 was a series of six World Championship Triathlon events leading to a Grand Final held in Beijing, China in September 2011. The event hosted both elite-level and amateur triathletes. This marked the inaugural year for the ITU World Triathlon Series sprint distance championship race. The sprint race replaced the ITU Triathlon World Cup event held in Lausanne in previous years. The race was held over a distance of 750 m swim, 20 km cycle, 5 km run. A prize purse of $50,000 was awarded for the sprint event.

Vicky Holland is an English triathlete who is part of the Great Britain Olympic team, a 2-time World Mixed Team Champion and the 2018 ITU WTS champion. She was born in Gloucester. She is the first female triathlete to win an Olympic medal for Great Britain, a bronze in 2016.

The team championship event coincided on the same weekend as the 2012 ITU World Triathlon Series Stockholm race.

The 2019 ITU World Triathlon Series is the 11th season of the World Triathlon Series, the top level international series for triathlon, since its establishment in 2009. The race was hosted on 15 July 2018 to coincide with the 2018 ITU World Triathlon Series Hamburg race, and featured 40 men and 40 women representing 20 countries. The race was around the Binnenalster, an artificial lake in central Hamburg. The race followed the standard mixed relay format, where each athlete would swim 300m, cycle 7 km and run 1.7 km before tagging their next teammate to do the same, with the specified gender order of female—male—female—male.
