The 2012 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy was the fifth annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams, second-tier world championship. The winner of the competition, the United States, was promoted to the IRB Junior World Championship for the 2013 tournament.

Contents

The event was held in the USA from 18 June until 30 June by rugby's governing body, the International Rugby Board. All matches took place at the Murray Rugby Park Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. [1] Attendance was strong for the tournament, with all four match days resulting in packed crowds filling Murray Rugby Park Stadium. [2] All matches in the tournament were streamed live by Deseret News and KSL, with more than 70,000 users logging on to view the official stream. [3] The 2012 JWRT landed several commercial sponsors, including Gatorade, Gilbert, and World Rugby Shop.

World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup

The Pacific Nations Cup is an international rugby union competition held between three Pacific nations: Fiji, Samoa and Tonga. The 2019 edition of the tournament will also include the national teams of Canada, Japan and United States. First held in 2006, the tournament is intended to strengthen the Tier 2 rugby nations by providing competitive test matches in a tournament format.

Rugby union in the United States

Rugby union in the United States is the fastest growing sport in the nation. Rugby union at the youth, high school, college, amateur club, professional, and international levels is governed by USA Rugby. There are over 125,000 players registered with USA Rugby as of 2016. Over 2,500 rugby clubs exist around the country, including those of whom are part of college rugby. Professional club competition exists as Major League Rugby since 2017.

The Wales national Under 20 rugby team is for Welsh rugby union players aged 20 or under on 1 January of the year during which they are selected.

Canada national under-20 rugby union team

The Canada under 20 rugby team is the junior national rugby union team from Canada. It replaced the two former age grade teams Under 19's and Under 21s in 2008. The team competed at the IRB Junior World Championships in 2008 and 2009 but have been relegated to the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy for 2010.

2011 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy

The 2011 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy was the fourth annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams, second-tier world championship. The event was organised by rugby's governing body, the International Rugby Board (IRB). Two venues were used, both located in Tbilisi. 12 of the 16 games were played at the Avchala Stadium, the other 4 games at the Shevardeni Stadium.

2012 IRB Junior World Championship

The 2012 IRB Junior World Championship was the fifth annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams. This competition replaced the now defunct Under 19 and Under 21 world championships. The event was organised in South Africa between 4 and 22 June 2012 by rugby's governing body, the IRB. A total of 12 nations played in the tournament. New Zealand came into the tournament as defending champions. South Africa were crowned 2012 champions after defeating New Zealand 22 - 16 in the final on the 22 June at Newlands Stadium.

2014 IRB Junior World Championship

The 2014 IRB Junior World Championship was the seventh annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams. The event was organised in Auckland, New Zealand by rugby's governing body, World Rugby, then known as the International Rugby Board. A total of 12 nations took part in the tournament. England went into the tournament as defending champions, after winning the tournament for the first time in 2013. England went on to win the Championship for a second time in two years. While hosts New Zealand, the most successful team in the tournament, were looking to win the title for the first time since 2011.

2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens

The 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the seventh edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens. Organised by World Rugby, it was held at AT&T Park, now known as Oracle Park, in San Francisco, United States. A total of 84 matches were played over three days from July 20–22, 2018. The men’s tournament had 24 teams and the women’s tournament 16, with both tournaments being played for the first time in a knock-out only format. New Zealand won the championship for both events — defeating England in the men's final and France in the women's final.
