General elections were held in Aruba on 27 September 2013. [1] The result was a victory for the ruling Aruban People's Party, which won 13 of the 21 seats in the Estates.

The 21 members of the Estates were elected by open list proportional representation in a single nationwide constituency. [1]

Estates General (France) Consultative assembly in France, 1302 to 1789

In France under the Old Regime, the Estates General or States-General was a legislative and consultative assembly of the different classes of French subjects. It had a separate assembly for each of the three estates, which were called and dismissed by the king. It had no true power in its own right as, unlike the English parliament it was not required to approve royal taxation or legislation. It served as an advisory body to the king, primarily by presenting petitions from the various estates and consulting on fiscal policy.

The National People's Party is a christian democratic political party in Curaçao established in 1948. The party participated in island council elections of the territory Curaçao as well as the Curaçao-constituency of the Estates of the Netherlands Antilles until the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010.

While the small physical size of the city-state does not qualify the creation of national subdivisions in the form of provinces, states, and other national political divisions found in larger countries, the city has nonetheless been administratively subdivided in various ways throughout its history for the purpose of local administration and urban planning.

General elections were held in Aruba on 25 September 2009. The elections were the seventh to be held for membership of the Estates since autonomy was granted by the Dutch in 1986, and resulted in a victory for the Aruban People's Party, which won 12 of the 21 seats in the Estates.

The first Estates of Curaçao were the succession of the Island council of Curaçao, upon the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010. In October 2012, elections were held for the Estates.

1971 San Diego mayoral election

The 1971 San Diego mayoral election was held on November 2, 1971 to elect the mayor for San Diego. Incumbent Frank Curran stood for reelection for a third term. California State Assembly member Pete Wilson and former San Diego City Attorney Ed Butler received the most votes in the primary and advanced to the runoff. Wilson was then elected mayor with a majority of the votes.

General elections were held in Sweden in 1866. They were the first elections for the new Second Chamber in the Riksdag, which would serve a three-year term. Suffrage was given to men over the age of 21 who either had a taxable income of at least 800 riksdaler a year, owned a property worth at least 1,000 riksdaler, or rented a property taxed to at least 6,000 riksdaler. This meant that around 5.5% of the population were able to vote, a slight reduction from the 6% that had been eligible under the previous Estates system. The changes had been approved following a 60,000-strong petition and a vote in the House of Nobility in December 1865 during which crowds had gathered outside to pressure the nobles into approving it.
