The 2013 Irani Cup, also called 2013 Irani Trophy, was the 51st season of the Irani Cup, a first-class cricket competition in India. In 2013, the fixture was moved to a date immediately after the Ranji Trophy final, resulting in there being two Irani Cup matches in the 2012/13 season. The fixture has since remained at the end of the season, and is played shortly after the Ranji Trophy final. [1]

The 2013 Irani Cup was played from 6 February 2013 to 10 February 2013 between the 2012–13 Ranji champions Mumbai and Rest of India. Wankhede Stadium, the home ground of Mumbai, hosted the match. The match was drawn and Rest of India retained the Irani Cup by virtue of their first innings lead. [2]

Lead-up

Mumbai captain Ajit Agarkar was ruled out of the Irani Cup due to a groin injury. Allrounder Abhishek Nayar was named the captain of the side. [5]

A stomach bug forced the RoI captain Virender Sehwag to sit out for the match, and Harbhajan Singh lead the team instead. [6]

He is the third highest wicket-taker for India in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and has represented India in the 1999 Cricket World Cup, 2003 Cricket World Cup, 2007 World Cup and was member of the inaugural 2007 ICC World Twenty20 winning squad, along with one of the joint winners of the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy, which was shared with Sri Lanka.

The Mumbai cricket team is a cricket team which represents Mumbai in Indian domestic cricket. It is governed by Mumbai Cricket Association. Its home ground is Wankhede Stadium in Churchgate.

The India national cricket team toured Pakistan for cricket matches during the 2005–06 season. Both India and Pakistan had already played Test matches during this season; India were coming off a 2–0 series win at home over Sri Lanka, while Pakistan beat England by the same margin. In ODI cricket, India's last series, in November 2005, ended in a 2–2 draw with South Africa, while Pakistan beat England 3–2 in December 2005. The tour began on 7 January 2006 with India playing Pakistan A in a non-first class game, and continued till 19 February.

The Z. R. Irani Cup, also known as the Irani Trophy,, is an annual first-class cricket match organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and contested each season by the reigning Ranji Trophy champions and a multi-state Rest of India team (ROI) composed of players from the other state teams. The inaugural edition was played in March 1960 as a special event to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Ranji Trophy. It was intended to be a one-off match but, in 1962, BCCI decided to institute it as annual fixture and it has been played in most seasons since 1962–63. BCCI named the Irani Trophy after Zal R. Irani, their long-serving president and treasurer, who was a significant figure in the organisation from its inception in 1928, till his death in 1970.

The Indian cricket team toured South Africa for three Tests, five Odis & one T20I from 16 November 2006 to 6 January 2007.

Shikhar Dhawan is an Indian cricketer. A left-handed opening batsman, he captains Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League and plays for Delhi in first-class cricket. At the 2013 Champions Trophy and 2017 Champions Trophy, Dhawan was the leading run-scorer and was awarded the 'Golden Bat' in both the tournaments. He was the leading run scorer for India at the 2015 Cricket World Cup. He also became the first player in the history of IPL to score two back-to-back centuries. He was awarded the 'Player of the Tournament' for his exploits in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, which he won with his national side. In the 2018 Asia Cup which Dhawan won with his national side, he was named Player Of The Tournament as he was the top scorer of the tournament with the bat.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Indian cricket team in Australia in 2003–04</span> Cricket series

India's 2003–04 tour of Australia was composed of seven first-class matches, including four Tests. India also participated in an ODI tri-series with Australia and Zimbabwe. The Test series was drawn 1–1, and India retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy because of their victory in the Trophy's previous contest. In the 2003–04 series' Adelaide Test, Rahul Dravid scored a double century, securing a famous win for India. Sachin Tendulkar scored 241* in Sydney, which up until that point in his career was his highest score in a Test match. Captain Sourav Ganguly made his first test century against Australia, a 144 in Brisbane that gave his team a lead of 86 after they were in trouble. VVS Laxman played consistently well throughout this series, most notably his contribution in the Adelaide test is well remembered. This series was also the last for Steve Waugh, who had captained Australia to a record equalling 16 consecutive test match victories and had 41 victories in 57 Tests.

Ambati Thirupathi Rayudu is an Indian former cricketer. He played 61 limited overs matches for the India national cricket team between 2013 and 2019 and is a right-handed middle-order batsman, who occasionally keeps wicket and bowls right-arm off breaks. He played for Hyderabad in domestic cricket, Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and Texas Super Kings in Major League Cricket.

The 2003 Cricket World Cup Final was a One Day International (ODI) match played on 23 March 2003 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. It marked the culmination of the 2003 Cricket World Cup, the eighth edition of the tournament. It was the first time these two teams had met at this stage of a World Cup. For defending champions Australia it was their fifth World Cup final, while for India it was the second after their 1983 victory. Australia won the match by 125 runs to claim the title for the third time.

The Australian cricket team toured India from 12 February to 26 March 2013, played a four-match Test series against India. During the 1st Test, Mahendra Singh Dhoni set the highest score by an Indian Test captain, scoring 224 runs, beating the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar. India won the four Test series in a 4–0 whitewash to win the Border–Gavaskar Trophy. This was first time Australia lost a test series 4-0 after their defeat against South Africa in 1970.

The 2013 Indian Premier League final was a day/night Twenty20 cricket match played between the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians on 26 May 2013 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata to determine the winners of the 2013 Indian Premier League, the sixth annual season of the professional Twenty20 cricket tournament in India. Mumbai defeated Chennai by 23 runs, attributed to Kieron Pollard's unbeaten innings of 60 runs from 32 balls which earned him the man of the match award.

The 2013–14 Irani Cup, also called 2013-14 Irani Trophy, was the 52nd season of the Irani Cup, a first-class cricket competition in India. It was a one-off match which was played from 9 February 2014 to 13 February 2014 between the 2013–14 Ranji champions Karnataka and the Rest of India team. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the home ground of Karnataka, hosted the match. Karnataka won the match by an innings and 222 runs.

The 2014–15 Irani Cup, also called 2014-15 Irani Trophy, will be the 53rd season of the Irani Cup, a first-class cricket competition in India. It will be a one-off match to be played from 17 March to 21 March 2015 between the 2014–15 Ranji champions Karnataka and the Rest of India team. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the home ground of Karnataka, will host the match.

The 2016–17 Irani Cup was the 55th season of the Irani Cup, a first-class cricket competition in India. It was played as a one-off match from 20 January to 24 January 2017 between Gujarat and the Rest of India team. Cheteshwar Pujara was captain of the Rest of India team. The match was held at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

The 2007–08 season is Hyderabad cricket team's 74th competitive season. The Hyderabad cricket team is senior men's domestic cricket team based in the city of Hyderabad, India, run by the Hyderabad Cricket Association. They represent the region of Telangana in the state of Andhra Pradesh in domestic competitions.
