The 2013 Pac-12 Conference football season began on August 29, 2013 with USC at Hawaii. The conference's first game was played on September 7, 2013 with Washington State winning over USC, and the final game was the Pac-12 Championship Game on December 7, 2013. This is the third season for the conference as a 12-team league. The Sagarin Ratings had the Pac-12 as the best conference in the nation top to bottom in the final rating of the season.

Previous season

The Second Pac-12 Championship Game was held on Friday, November 20, 2012. Stanford, the North Division Champions, defeated UCLA, the South Division Champions, to claim their thirteenth conference title.

The Stanford Cardinal ended the regular season with an 11–2 record which earned the team a berth in the Rose Bowl, where they defeated Wisconsin for their first Rose Bowl win since 1972. Oregon won eleven games and lost to Stanford and earned an at-large BCS berth. The Ducks defeated the Big 12 co-champion Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl. Arizona beat Nevada and Arizona State beat Navy while Washington was defeated by Boise State, UCLA was defeated by Baylor, Oregon State was defeated by Texas, and USC was defeated by Georgia Tech in non-BCS bowls. The Pac-12 went 4–4 in all bowls, with a 2–0 mark in BCS bowls and 2–4 in non-BCS bowls.

The Rose Bowl Game is an annual American college football bowl game, usually played on January 1 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. When New Year's Day falls on a Sunday, the game is played on Monday, January 2. The Rose Bowl Game is nicknamed "The Granddaddy of Them All" because it is the oldest currently operating bowl game. It was first played in 1902 as the Tournament East–West football game, and has been played annually since 1916. Since 1945, it has been the highest attended college football bowl game. Charles Edward Kelly is an American football coach who is the head coach of the UCLA Bruins. He came to prominence as the head coach of the Oregon Ducks from 2009 to 2012, whom he led to four consecutive BCS bowl game appearances, including the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. This success led to him serving as a head coach in the National Football League (NFL) for four seasons, three with the Philadelphia Eagles (2013–2015) and one with the San Francisco 49ers (2016). Kelly only made the playoffs in his first season with Philadelphia, and he was fired from both teams. After leaving the NFL, Kelly returned to college football in 2018 to coach UCLA.

The 2009 Pacific-10 Conference football season started on Thursday, September 3, 2009. Oregon won the Pac-10 title, which had been held by USC for the past seven years. Seven conference teams were invited to participate in post season bowl games, with only UCLA and USC winning their bowl games.

The 2010 Pacific-10 Conference football season began on September 2, 2010 with a victory by USC at Hawaii. Conference play began on September 11 with Stanford shutting out UCLA 35–0 in Pasadena on ESPN.

The 2011 Pac-12 Conference football season began on September 1, 2011 with Montana State at Utah and UC Davis at Arizona State. The 2013 Stanford Cardinal football team represented Stanford University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Cardinal were led by third-year head coach David Shaw. They played their home games at Stanford Stadium and were members of the North Division of the Pac-12 Conference.

The 2013 All-Pac-12 Conference football team consists of American football players chosen by various organizations for All-Pac-12 honors for the 2013 Pac-12 season. The Stanford Cardinal won the conference, defeating the Arizona State Sun Devils 38 to 14 in the Pac-12 Championship game. Stanford then lost to the Big Ten champion Michigan State Spartans in the Rose Bowl 20 to 14. Arizona running back Ka'Deem Carey was voted Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year. Arizona State defensive tackle Will Sutton was voted Pat Tillman Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year.
