The 2014 BWF World Championships was a badminton tournament which was held from 25 to 31 August 2014 at the Ballerup Super Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark. [1]

Host city selection

Copenhagen and Macau submitted bids for this of championships. [2] Both cities also bid for the 2013 edition, which was later won by Guangzhou. On 9 December 2011, Badminton World Federation decided to award the championships to Copenhagen during a meeting in Queenstown, New Zealand.[ citation needed ]

Draw

The draw was held on 11 August 2014 at the Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

2009 BWF World Championships Badminton tournament

The 2009 BWF World Championships was the 17th tournament of the World Badminton Championships, a global tournament in the sport of badminton. It was held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, from 10–16 August 2009. It was the first ever World Championships event to take place in India.

Shin Baek-cheol is a mixed and men's doubles badminton player from South Korea. He is a World, Asian and World Junior Champions, as well a gold medalists in the Asian Games and Summer Universiade.

P. V. Sindhu Indian badminton player (born 1995)

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is an Indian badminton player. Considered one of India's most successful sportspersons, Sindhu has won medals at various tournaments such as the Olympics and on the BWF circuit, including a gold at the 2019 World Championships. She is the first and only Indian to become the badminton world champion and only the second individual athlete from India to win two consecutive medals at the Olympic Games. She rose to a career-high world ranking of no. 2 in April 2017.

Zhao Yunlei Badminton player

Zhao Yunlei is a mixed and women's doubles badminton player from China. She graduated with a BA from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. She is the first and only badminton player to have ever won two gold medals in the same Olympic edition, winning in both the mixed and women's doubles categories in 2012. Zhao joins the ranks with nine other players with two Olympic gold medals, the highest number of gold medals won by any badminton player. Through her performance at the 2014 and 2015 BWF World Championships, she became the first player to win two consecutive gold medals in two consecutive BWF World Championships.

Li Xuerui Chinese badminton player

Li Xuerui is a retired Chinese professional badminton player. She is one of the most successful players of her time. She was a gold medalist at 2012 London Olympics in the women's singles event and was the silver medalists in the 2013 and 2014 World Championships. Li Xuerui won fourteen Superseries titles, confirming her status as China's second most successful player after Wang Yihan. She reached a career high of no. 1 in the women's singles for 124 weeks. Li graduated with a BA from Huaqiao University.

Bao Yixin Chinese badminton player

Bao Yixin is a Chinese badminton doubles player. She won titles in the women's doubles category with many different partners. She won two World Junior titles at the 2010 BWF World Junior Championships held in Guadalajara, Mexico. In the girls' doubles event, she was crowned World Junior Champion with Ou Dongni and in the mixed doubles she was crowned with Liu Cheng. She also won the mixed doubles at the 2009 Asian Junior Championships with Lu Kai and the mixed doubles at the 2010 Asian Junior Championships with Liu Cheng. Partnering with Tang Yuanting, Bao became the women's doubles champion at the 2015 All England Open. Bao graduated with a bachelor's degree from Xiangtan University.

Akane Yamaguchi Japanese badminton player

Akane Yamaguchi is a Japanese badminton player who is the reigning World Champion, winning gold in the women's singles at the 2021 BWF World Championships. She was on the winning Japanese team at the Asian Junior Championships in 2012 and won various women's singles titles afterward. She then won the World Junior Championships in 2013 and 2014, the Asian Junior Championships in 2014, and the Asian Championships in 2019. She helped Japan in winning by the maximum score of 3–0 at the 2017, 2018, and 2020 Asia Team Championships, and to end 37 years for Japan without a title in the Uber Cup in 2018.

2013 Sudirman Cup

The 2013 Sudirman Cup was the thirteenth tournament of the Sudirman Cup. It was held from May 19–26, 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. According to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) 31 teams have confirmed their participation, for the second time, twelve teams competed in the elite group to battle for the title.
