Until end of May, most anime series and television dramas had their production suspended due to the pandemic's massive impact on Japanese television since COVID-19 interrupted the production of television series for several weeks to ensure safety of various people who have been involved the previous process of filming.

What Did You Eat Yesterday? is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Fumi Yoshinaga. The slice of life series focuses on the relationship between Shiro Kakei and Kenji Yabuki, a middle-aged gay couple living in Tokyo, Japan. The manga has been serialized in the manga magazine Morning since February 2007, and was adapted into a live-action television drama by Shochiku that aired on TV Tokyo in 2019; a film sequel to the television drama was released in November 2021. Both the manga and its live-action adaption have received widespread critical acclaim, winning a Kodansha Manga Award, a Galaxy Award, and multiple Television Drama Academy Awards.

Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles is a Japanese manga series by Naru Narumi. It began serialization in Takeshobo's Manga Life Storia magazine in September 2013. A live-action drama series adaptation aired from June 2015 to December 2016. A 12-episode anime television series adaptation co-animated by Studio Gokumi and AXsiZ aired in Japan from January to March 2018.

Uchida graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University. In 1968, he joined Yukio Mishima's Roman Gekijo Theatre Company. Uchida made 68 appearances as a guest on Mito Kōmon.

Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Aiko Koyama. It has been serialized in Shogakukan's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Sunday since December 2016, with its chapters collected in 26 tankōbon volumes as of May 2024. The series takes place in the Geisha district in Kyoto and follows the titular character Kiyo as she cooks up delicacies every day to support her friend Sumire and the other maiko.

Ai Kidosaki was a Japanese author and chef best known for her career on the Kyō no Ryōri cooking programme.

<i>Case Closed: The Culprit Hanzawa</i> Japanese manga series by Mayuko Kanba

Case Closed: The Culprit Hanzawa, also known as Detective Conan: The Culprit Hanzawa is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Mayuko Kanba. It is a spin-off of the original manga Detective Conan by Gosho Aoyama and stars the black-silhouetted "criminal" that appears in the main series to represent the mystery culprits. Kanba launched the manga in Shogakukan's Shōnen Sunday S in May 2017 and its chapters have been collected in eight tankōbon volumes as of October 2023. An anime television series adaptation produced by TMS Entertainment aired from October to December 2022.
