2022 Winter Olympics marketing was a long running campaign that began since Beijing won its bid to host the games in 2015.

Symbols

Emblem

The official emblem "Winter Dream" (冬梦) was unveiled on 15 December 2017 at the Beijing National Aquatics Center. The emblem is a stylized rendition of the character "冬" (Winter) inspired by winter snow, with a ribbon motif. The top is meant to resemble a skier and the bottom is meant to resemble a skater. The emblem also features the Olympic colors (except black) and the Chinese flag colors. The emblem was designed by Lin Cunzhen who also created the Nanjing 2014 logo. [1]

Slogan

The Games' promotional slogan is Joyful Rendezvous Upon Pure Ice and Snow (Chinese :纯洁的冰雪,激情的约会), which was used for the candidature process for Beijing to bid for the 2022 Games. On September 17, 2021 the Beijing 2022 announce the slogan of Olympic Winter Games "Together for a Shared Future!" (Chinese :一起向未来!Yīqǐ xiàng wèilái!). [2] A song with the same name, "Together for a Shared Future" was sung in two versions: one by Jackson Yee, the other by William Chan and Tia Ray; to promote the slogan of the Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Mascot

The mascot "Bing Dwen Dwen" (Chinese :冰墩墩; pinyin :Bīng Dūn Dūn) was unveiled on 17 September 2019 at the Shougang Ice Hockey Arena and was designed by Cao Xue. [4] The giant panda, is often regarded as one main symbols of China. Its helmet is also indicative of the snow and ice of winter sports. Along with the Olympic mascot, the Paralympic mascot was also revealed on the same day. [5]

The Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (北京2022年冬奥会和冬残奥会组织委员会) (BOCWOG) was a public institution with legal person status, responsible for the organisation and coordination of all the preparations and delivery of the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. It was located at the former steel plant of Shougang Corporation in Shijingshan District, Beijing. The executive board of the Beijing 2022 was its sole executive agency. The Chairman was Cai Qi, who is also a CCP Politburo member and Beijing CCP secretary.

Bing Dwen Dwen is the official mascot of the 2022 Winter Olympics, and Shuey Rhon Rhon is the official mascot of the 2022 Winter Paralympics. The name of Bing Dwen Dwen possibly means ice hulu, as 墩 (Dūn) in its name is a homophone of 礅 (Dūn) in the word 糖礅 in Tianjin dialect, meaning tanghulu, the prototype of the mascot. Both events were held in Beijing, the capital of China.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 Winter Olympics torch relay</span>

The 2022 Winter Olympics torch relay was run from 18 October 2021 until 4 February 2022. After it was lit in Olympia, Greece, the torch traveled in a symbolic relay to Athens on 19 October. The Chinese leg ended in Beijing National Stadium, at the end of the opening ceremony. On 20 October 2021, it was announced that the Chinese leg will have only three days, starting on 2 February, at the morning of the first day of the Chinese New Year as stage 3. Unlike the previous relays, the relay only visited the three venues clusters, the main sights of Beijing and the city of Zhangjiakou. The final torch was lit by long-distance runner Dilnigar Ilhamjan and nordic combined Zhao Jiawen.

The 2022 Winter Olympics opening ceremony was held at Beijing National Stadium, China on 4 February 2022. As mandated by the Olympic Charter, the proceedings are expected to combine the formal and ceremonial opening of this international sporting event, including welcoming speeches, hoisting of the flags and the parade of athletes, with an artistic spectacle to showcase the host nation's winter culture and modern history. The Games were officially opened by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and president of the People's Republic of China.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mongolia at the 2022 Winter Paralympics</span> Sporting event delegation

Mongolia competed at the 2022 Winter Paralympics in Beijing, China which took place between 4–13 March 2022. In total, three athletes competed. It was the fifth time the country competed at the Winter Paralympics.

The China national para ice hockey team, established in 2017, represents the People's Republic of China in international sledge hockey competitions and is governed by the Winter Sports Management Center of the State Sports General Administration of China (国家体育总局冬季运动管理中心).
