The 2024 Borden-Kinkora (District 19) provincial by-election was originally scheduled for February 5, 2024. [1] However, because of impending weather conditions, Elections PEI announced the election would be postponed until Tuesday, February 6, 2024, with the same voting locations in place. [2] It was then postponed again to February 7. [3] It was triggered by the resignation of Progressive Conservative Jamie Fox from the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island. [4]

A provincial by-election was held in Prince Edward Island on October 15, 2007, to fill the vacancy in the Legislative Assembly riding of Belfast-Murray River. It was called by Premier Robert Ghiz on September 17, 2007.

Jamie D. Fox is a Canadian politician, who served as interim leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Prince Edward Island and Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly from October 15, 2015 to October 20, 2017. Fox was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island in the 2015 provincial election. He represents the electoral district of Borden-Kinkora. In October 2017, James Alyward was elected as the Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of PEI after Fox serving for two years as the Interim Leader.

Matt MacFarlane is a Canadian politician. He has been a Green member of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island since winning the 2024 Borden-Kinkora provincial by-election. MacFarlane was the unsuccessful Green candidate in Borden-Kinkora in 2019 and 2023. He is the president of the Green Party of Prince Edward Island and a lawyer by profession.
