The 45th Men's 2024 European Amateur Boxing Championships and 14th European Women's Boxing Championships were held at the same time in Belgrade, Serbia, from 18 to 28 April 2024. [1] 401 boxers (263 men and 138 women) from 33 countries were scheduled to come to Belgrade for this championships. [2]

The European Amateur Boxing Championships is the highest competition for boxing amateurs in Europe, organised by the continent's governing body EUBC, which stands for the European Boxing Confederation. The first edition of the tournament took place in 1924, although the first 'competitive' championships were hosted by the city of Stockholm (Sweden) in 1925.
Sport in Serbia includes football, basketball, handball, tennis, volleyball, and water polo. Professional sports in Serbia are organized by sporting federations and leagues. Serbian professional sports includes multi-sport clubs, biggest and most successful of which are Crvena Zvezda, Partizan, Radnički and Beograd in Belgrade, Vojvodina in Novi Sad, Radnički in Kragujevac, Spartak in Subotica. Serbia had successes in basketball, winning the Olympic silver medal and Nikola Jokic winning 2 NBA MVPs, as well as the 2023 NBA Championship and Finals MVP, Novak Djokovic winning a record setting 24th Grand Slam, and in handball, volleyball and water polo as well.
The European Union Amateur Boxing Championships is a competition for amateur boxers from the European Union and its candidate countries. The championships are organised by the continent's governing body, the European Boxing Confederation (EUBC). The first edition of the men's tournament took place in 2003 in Strasbourg, France and the women's in 2006 in Porto Torres, Italy. The men's tournament was held annually from 2003 to 2009 and every four years since 2014, while the women's tournament was held annually from 2006 to 2011 and every four years since 2013.
W.A.K.O. European Championships 1996 were the thirteenth European kickboxing championships hosted by the W.A.K.O. organization arranged by the Serbia and Montenegro kickboxing president Borislav Pelević. The event was the first ever to be held in Serbia and Montenegro and welcomed the country back into the international community after the devastation of the Bosnian War. Esra Yıldız is a Turkish amateur boxer who won a bronze medal in the lightweight division at the 2016 European Championships. She was named as a competitor for the 2020 Summer Olympics.
The 2022 European U22 Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships (8th) took place in Poreč, Croatia from 13 to 24 March 2022. Men and women boxers between the ages of 19 and 22 was eligible for this championships. Only one boxer per national federation per weight category would be allowed to compete.

Vahid Abasov is a Russian-born Serbian boxer. He participated at the 2022 European Amateur Boxing Championships, being awarded the gold medal in the welterweight event. Abasov and Artem Ageev were the only people to win medals which were gold medals for their country. He was the second person of his country to win the medal.

Jelena Janićijević is a Serbian professional boxer who is a former European female lightweight champion. She is the first female boxer from her country to win a senior medal at an International Boxing Association sanctioned competition, having won bronze at the 2022 Women's European Amateur Boxing Championships.
