The SVNS, known as the HSBC SVNS for sponsorship reasons, is an annual series of international rugby sevens tournaments run by World Rugby featuring national sevens teams. Organised for the first time in the 1999–2000 season as the IRB World Sevens Series, the competition was formed to promote an elite-level of international rugby sevens and develop the game into a viable commercial product. The 2023–24 SVNS is the 25th annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for national sevens teams, known as the World Rugby Sevens Series (SVNS). It is taking place between December 2023 and June 2024. The Sevens Series has been run by World Rugby since 1999. It is the first season in which the series format changed.

In 2023 World Rugby re-branded the now legacy World Sevens series to a new World Rugby SVNS Series. Starting in December 2023 in Dubai, Cape Town, Perth, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Singapore and will conclude in Madrid in June 2024. The new series will fully combine the men's and women's tours aligning with the Olympic competition model, with both taking place on the same weekends in the same cities and venues. Both men and women's teams will earn the same with equal participation fees. The tournament is built around the idea of bringing about a festival type atmosphere and serve as a build up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The 2023–2024 season will be the inaugural season of the World Rugby SVNS Series now legacy World Sevens Series. The new combined men and women's tournaments will begin in December 2023 in Dubai and will travel to several cities across the world such as Cape Town, Perth, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Singapore and will conclude in Madrid in June 2024.

The 2023 Dubai Sevens or SVNS DXB was a rugby sevens tournament played at The Sevens. Twelve men's teams and a similar number of women's teams participated.

The 2023 South Africa Sevens or SVNS CPT was a rugby sevens tournament played at Cape Town Stadium. Twelve men's and women's teams participated.

The 2024 Challenger Series for men's rugby sevens teams is the fourth season of the second-tier circuit that allows a promotion pathway to the SVNS.

The 2024 Challenger Series for women's rugby sevens teams is the third season of the second-tier circuit that allows a promotion pathway to the SVNS.

The 2024 Australia Sevens or SVNS PER is a rugby sevens tournament played at Perth Rectangular Stadium. Twelve men's and women's teams participated.

The 2024 Canada Sevens or SVNS VAN is a rugby sevens tournament played at BC Place. Twelve men's and women's teams participate.

The 2024 USA Sevens or SVNS LAX is a rugby sevens tournament played at Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, California. Twelve men's and women's teams participated.

The 2024 Hong Kong Sevens or SVNS HKG is a rugby sevens tournament played at Hong Kong Stadium. Fifteen men's and women's teams will participate. This is the last tournament at the iconic Hong Kong Stadium, as from 2025 the event will move to Kai Tak Sports Park. In addition to the SVNS tournament, there is also an invitational pool for Asian teams called the Melrose Claymores.
