The category for Outstanding Achievement in Youth Programming was split into two categories: Outstanding Achievement in Family Programming, which recognizes shows catering to children ages 7 and older, and Outstanding Achievement in Children's Programming, for shows aimed at ages 7 and younger. The Television Critics Association (TCA) is a group of approximately 200 United States and Canadian television critics, journalists and columnists who cover television programming for newspapers, magazines and web publications. The TCA accepts applications and selects members twice per year in March and September. Once selected, all members meet at The Langham Huntington hotel and spa in Pasadena, California in January for the winter press tour, and at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills in July for the summer press tour. Winter press tour usually covers network midseason replacements, programs from streaming services and cable series which start in January, while the summer tour covers the new fall season for broadcast, streaming, and cable programming, along with serving as a part of the campaigning of shows, creatives and cast after the release of nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards.

Deborah Rhea Seehorn is an American actress and director. She is known for playing Kim Wexler in AMC's legal crime drama series Better Call Saul (2015–2022), for which she was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 74th and 75th Primetime Emmy Awards. She also received another Emmy nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for her performance in Cooper's Bar.

The TCA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sketch/Variety Shows is an award given by the Television Critics Association. The category was introduced in 2018, diverging from the Outstanding Achievement in News and Information category to honor variety talk and sketch shows.
