Lieutenant General Ajay Kumar Singh,PVSM,AVSM,SM,VSM is the former [1] Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. [2] He is an alumnus of Sainik School Rewa and National Defence Academy. He is former General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command of Indian Army. [3]
Singh was named 11th Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in July 2013 and took office on 8 July 2013. [4] He was given additional responsibility of the administration of Puducherry from July 2014 to May 2016.
Singh is known for his contributions towards Andaman Society by starting Andaman's first medical College,ANIIMS [5] and second degree college of South Andaman,ANCOL. [6]
Singh left the Andaman and Nicobar Islands [7] after handing over charges on 19 August 2016.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands is a union territory of India consisting of 571 islands,of which 37 are inhabited,at the junction of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. The territory is about 150 km (93 mi) north of Aceh in Indonesia and separated from Thailand and Myanmar by the Andaman Sea. Sainik School Rewa is one of the 33 Sainik Schools of India. It is a purely residential school. The medium of instruction is English. Established by Government of India on 20 July 1962 at the sprawling estate known as Yuvraj Bhawan which belonged to Maharaja Martand Singh Judeo,Yuvraj of former Princely state of Rewa,the school prepares boys to join the indian armed forces. It is run by the ANILES with Hon'ble Lt. Governor as its president,Hon'ble Chief Secretary as its Chairman and the Law Secretary as its Vice Chairman. The institute has a moderately sized interim campus in Transport Bhawan,Phoenix Bay,Port Blair.
