Abbey Nicole Curran (born 1987or1988) [1] is an American beauty pageant contestant from Davenport, Iowa, who competed in the Miss USA pageant in 2008 as Miss Iowa USA. Curran is the chairwoman of her own non-profit pageant "The Miss You Can Do It Pageant" for young girls and women with special needs. [2] The HBO documentary film Miss You Can Do It (2013) is about her work with this pageant. [3]

Miss USA 2008

Curran, then 20, represented Iowa at the Miss USA 2008 pageant in Las Vegas, held on April 11, 2008, where she competed against District of Columbia and fifty other delegates. Curran was the first contestant with a disability. Curran was born with cerebral palsy. She also made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show , CBS' The Early Show, Inside Edition , Access Hollywood , Extra , and CNN Headline News . She also had an exclusive feature story in People Magazine . [4] [5]

Personal life

Curran grew up on a farm in Kewanee, Illinois. [6] Curran is a graduate from Kewanee High School [7] and is an alum of St. Ambrose University. [8] [ citation needed ]. She is also a past Easter Seals ambassador. She received physical therapy services for cerebral palsy at the Easter Seals Peoria Service Center for many years when she was a child.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of permanent movement disorders that appear in early childhood. Signs and symptoms vary among people and over time. Miss America Annual competition in the United States

Miss America is an annual competition that is open to women from the United States between the ages of 17 and 25. As of 2018, there is no longer a swimsuit portion to the contest, or consideration of physical appearance. Miss America travels about 20,000 miles a month, changing her location every 24 to 48 hours, touring the nation and promoting her particular platform of interest. The winner is crowned by the previous year's titleholder.

Mrs. America (contest) American beauty pageant

Mrs. America Pageant is a beauty competition that was established to honor married women throughout the United States of America. Each of the contestants representing the 50 states and the District of Columbia range in age from their 20s to 50s and earns the right to participate in the national event by winning her state competition. These state events are under the direction of Mrs. America state directors. The winner goes on to compete in the Mrs. World pageant.

Third Street in Kewanee, Illinois, a city in Kewanee Township of Henry County, Illinois, in the Midwestern United States. The campus is 40 miles (64 km) northeast of Galesburg, Illinois, 44 miles (71 km) southeast of Moline, Illinois, and serves a mixed city and rural residential community. The school is one of two high schools in the city of Kewanee, the other being Wethersfield High School. The school is within the Davenport-Moline-Rock Island, IA-IL metropolitan statistical area.

Miss America 2008, the 81st Miss America pageant, was held on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada on Saturday, January 26, 2008.

Miss Teen USA 1995, the 13th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from the Century II Convention Center in Wichita, Kansas on 15 August 1995. At the conclusion of the final competition, Keylee Sue Sanders of Kansas was crowned by outgoing queen Shauna Gambill of California.

Miss USA 1994

Miss USA 1994, the 43rd Miss USA pageant, was televised live from the South Padre Island Convention Centre on South Padre Island, Texas on February 11, 1994. At the conclusion of the final competition, Lu Parker of South Carolina was crowned by outgoing titleholder Kenya Moore of Michigan.

Miss USA 2008 Beauty pageant edition

Miss USA 2008, the 57th Miss USA pageant, was held in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 11, 2008. At the conclusion of the final night of competition, Crystle Stewart of Texas was crowned the winner by outgoing titleholder Rachel Smith of Tennessee. Crystle represented the United States at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant, which was held in Vietnam, where she placed in the Top 10. This is the first time in Miss USA history that two consecutive women of African-American descent have been crowned.

Miss USA 1988, the 37th Miss USA pageant, was televised live from the El Paso Civic Center in El Paso, Texas on March 1, 1988. At the conclusion of the final competition, Courtney Gibbs of Texas was crowned Miss USA, becoming the fourth consecutive winner from Texas.

Kelsey Weier is an American television personality and beauty pageant titleholder. She received national recognition after appearing as a contestant on season 24 of The Bachelor. She was eliminated during week 8 by Peter Weber. Prior to her television career, Weier had been crowned Miss Iowa USA in 2017.
