Abigail Lapell is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter, who won the Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Album of the Year at the 13th Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2017 for her album Hide Nor Hair [1] and again for English Songwriter of the Year at the 15th Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2020 for her album Getaway. [2]

Based in Toronto, Ontario, Lapell released her debut album Great Survivor in 2011. [3] In 2016, she won the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award for her song "Jordan". [4]

Hide Nor Hair, her second album, was released in 2017. [5] In addition to her Contemporary Album win at the CFMAs, she was also a shortlisted finalist in the Contemporary Singer of the Year category. [6]

Her 2024 album Anniversary featured several tracks recorded in collaboration with Great Lake Swimmers. [7]

The Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award is an annual Canadian award, presented to the year's best song by an emerging singer-songwriter from Ontario in the genres of roots, traditional, folk and country music. The award, created in memory of Canadian country singer Colleen Peterson, is sponsored by the Ontario Arts Council and the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals (OCFF), and is presented to a songwriter selected from 15 nominations put forward by the OCFF's Songs from the Heart songwriting competition, excluding overall winners of the Galaxie Rising Stars Awards. The award was initially funded in part by royalties from the sale of Postcards from California, a posthumous album collecting some of Peterson's unreleased demo recordings.

Irish Mythen is an Irish-born Canadian contemporary folk singer-songwriter. In recent years, Mythen has performed with Rod Stewart, Gordon Lightfoot and Lucinda Williams at major festival stages the world over. Mythen's first two full-length albums were Sweet Necessity in 2008 and Open Here in 2011. She moved to Prince Edward Island in 2007, where she won the Songwriter of the Year Award in 2016 for her song "Gypsy Dancer". Her third album, released in 2014 titled Irish Mythen, won the East Coast Music Association 2015 Roots Album of the Year. Mythen is described as "rambunctious, thoughtful, tender and loud" by ABC Radio National. She was one of several female artists at the 2018 edition of the legendary Cambridge Folk Festival, who were singled out by the Guardian newspaper in their praise of new festival booker Bev Burton's female-heavy line-up for the festival. Australia's premier folk and roots festival Byron Bay Bluesfest call her a 'must see artist' and she is booked to make a third appearance at the festival in 2019.

"Getaway Car" is a song by the American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift from her sixth studio album, Reputation (2017). It served as a single in Australia and New Zealand on September 7, 2018, to support the Australian shows of Swift's Reputation Stadium Tour (2018). Written and produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff, it is a synth-pop song with pulsing synthesizers, programmed drums, and distorted vocals. Lyrically, the song describes Swift's efforts to exit a relationship using romance with someone else, knowing the new relationship will also end briefly because its purpose was only to "get away" from the first one.

Kacy & Clayton is a Canadian folk/roots duo originating from Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan. The duo consists of second cousins Clayton Linthicum on guitar and Kacy Anderson on vocals.

Celeigh Cardinal is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter from Alberta. She is most noted for her 2019 album Stories from a Downtown Apartment, which won the Juno Award for Indigenous Music Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2020. On June 25, 2020, the album also earned Cardinal two Western Canadian Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year and Indigenous Artist of the Year.
