Abinandhan Ramanujam is an Indian cinematographer who works primarily in Malayalam and Tamil films. [1]

Early life

Abinandhan Ramanujam was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He graduated from L.V. Prasad Film and TV Academy and is a gold medalist from there. He later did a course in visual communication from Dr G R Damodaran College of Science, Coimbatore . Since childhood Abinandhan was interested in photography. His father Ramanujam was a bank officer, who always encouraged him in his work. His father owned an old Yashica camera; he would practice his photography skills, and his father would monitor it as well give guidance on his photography. He used to keep himself busy with some or the other work which was related to filming. [1]

Career

Abinandhan got his first break from Bejoy Nambiar. Nambiar was shooting for his MTV series Rush when Akshay, Sreekar Prasad’s son, who is a friend of him who was assisting Nambiar spoke about Abinandhan. He was then called with his camera to Mumbai to be the cinematographer of the series. It was during this period when Lijo Jose Pellissery who had directed two episodes of the MTV series called up Abinandhan to be the cinematographer of his next film, Amen (2013). His movie Double Barrel is known for its extraordinary shots. [1]

Anand won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography for his debut film as a cinematographer, Thenmavin Kombath. In 2005, Anand turned film director with the critically acclaimed Kana Kandaen. David is a 2013 Indian crime film directed by Bejoy Nambiar, starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vikram and Vinay Virmani in the title role, alongside Tabu, Monica Dogra, Lara Dutta and Isha Sharvani. In the Tamil version of the film actor Jiiva played the role of Vinay Virmani while Neil Nitin Mukesh's segment was excluded. Kavalai Vendam is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Deekay. The film stars Jiiva and Kajal Aggarwal, while Bobby Simha and Sunaina play supporting roles. The film, which is said to be an urban romance "about first love, second chances and relationships", features music composed by Leon James, cinematography by Abinandhan Ramanujam and editing by Suresh. Produced by Elred Kumar, Kavalai Vendam released on 24 November 2016 while its dubbed Telugu version Entha Varaku Ee Prema released on 7 April 2017 to mixed reviews and did average collections. Ramanuja or Ramanujan or Ramanujam is a Tamil and Malayalam name literally meaning 'the younger brother of Rama' mostly referring to Lakshmana. The name is derived from Ramanuja, a Sanskrit compound consisting of the terms rāma and anuja (अनुज). The name however is rarely used by Malayalis themselves nowadays and has come to be known as a common name used by the Tamil Iyengar community. The most famous personalities with this name are the 11th century philosopher Ramanuja and the Malayali poet Ramanujan Ezhuthachan. Ramanujan is also the name for Srinivasa Ramanujan (1887–1920), an Indian mathematician who is considered by many to be one of the most talented mathematicians in history.

Missiamma is a 1955 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by L. V. Prasad. Produced by B. Nagi Reddy and Aluri Chakrapani's Vijaya Vauhini Studios, the script was adapted by Chakrapani from the Bengali novel Manmoyee Girls School by Rabindranath Maitra. Missiamma also focused on social issues such as unemployment, corruption, and freedom of worship. Missiamma tells the story of two unemployed people of different religions and mentalities: Balu and Mary. They pose as a married couple to obtain jobs in a high school founded by Gopal, the zamindar of Aandipettai. As Balu and Mary fall in love, Gopal's nephew Raju learns that Mary is Gopal's missing elder daughter Mahalakshmi; she is unaware of her true identity.

<i>Solo</i> (2017 film) 2017 Indian film

Solo is a 2017 Indian experimental anthology film co-written, co-produced and directed by Bejoy Nambiar with Dulquer Salmaan in a quadruple role as Shekhar, Trilok, Siva and Rudra. Shot simultaneously in Malayalam and Tamil, production began during November 2016. Solo tells the story of four people, each story revolving around four elements: Earth, Fire, Wind and Water, each with the facets of Lord Shiva. The film was released on 5 October 2017 in both Tamil and Malayalam worldwide and received positive reviews from critics and audiences. The film was dubbed in Telugu as Athade, which released on 22 June 2018. It's also dubbed into Hindi as Tatva.

Karwaan is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language road comedy-drama film written by Bejoy Nambiar and directed by debutant Akarsh Khurana for producers Ronnie Screwvala and Priti Rathi Gupta. The film stars Irrfan Khan, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar in main leads and marks the Bollywood debut of Dulquer Salmaan. It was released on 3 August 2018

Taish is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language neo-noir action thriller drama film directed by Bejoy Nambiar. The film stars Pulkit Samrat, Jim Sarbh, Harshvardhan Rane, Kriti Kharbanda and Sanjeeda Shaikh. It is produced by Deepak Mukut, Bejoy Nambiar, and Nishant Pitti. The film was released on ZEE5 on 29 October 2020 as a feature film and six episodic series, simultaneously.

Kaduva (transl. Tiger) is a 2022 Indian Malayalam-language action film directed by Shaji Kailas, written by Jinu V. Abraham and produced by Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames. It stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the titular role, alongside Vivek Oberoi, Samyuktha Menon, Arjun Ashokan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Baiju Santhosh and Kalabhavan Shajohn. Set in 1990s, Kaduva revolves around an ego war between Kaduvakunnel Kuriyachan, an influential businessman, and I.G. Joseph Chandy.
