"Absolute Power" is a 2024 American comic book crossover event presented by DC Comics. As part of the Dawn of DC initiative, the main limited series will be written by Mark Waid, with art by Dan Mora, and will be debuting on July 2, 2024. The event takes place in the aftermath of "Titans: Beast World" and "House of Brainiac". [1]

Premise

In response to the events of "Beast World", Amanda Waller joins forces with Failsafe and the Brainiac Queen, as part of her campaign to capture every metahuman ability around the world. [2]

Publication history

"Absolute Power" is an upcoming crossover event published by DC Comics and set to be released July 2, 2024. The main limited series of four issues will be written by Mark Waid and drawn by Dan Mora. [1] During the Dawn of DC initiative, a "Trinity of Evil" was teased, [3] featuring Amanda Waller, leader of A.R.G.U.S., Checkmate and the Suicide Squad, alongside the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh, a Silver Age character who was reintroduced in 2022 during the "Failsafe" arc from Batman (vol. 3) #125–130 by Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jiménez, and the Brainiac Queen, a variation of Brainiac who will be introduced in June 2024 at the end of the "House of Brainiac" crossover event by Joshua WIlliamson and Rafa Sandoval. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a 2024 action-adventure shooter game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. Based on the DC Comics team Suicide Squad, it is a spin-off of the Batman: Arkham series, and a follow-up to Batman: Arkham Knight (2015). Injustice is a series of superhero fighting video games developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, featuring characters from the DC Comics universe. "War for Earth-3" is a 2022 crossover event in DC Comics publications. Written by Robbie Thompson, Denis Hopeless and Jeremy Adams, the story follows a conflict between the Suicide Squad, Crime Syndicate of America, Teen Titans, and Flash as Amanda Waller creates a plan to have an everlasting Suicide Squad. The story appeared in five issues spread across three comic titles published over five weeks in March 2022. The event received mixed reviews from critics, with critics praising the story and action but criticizing the art and characters, particularly the Crime Syndicate.

Dawn of DC is a 2023 publishing initiative by the American comic book publisher DC Comics of its entire line of ongoing monthly superhero comic book titles. Following the events of the 2022 crossover events Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths and Lazarus Planet, DC Comics started the Dawn of DC line in January 2023 with Action Comics #1051. The initiative succeeds the Infinite Frontier line.

"House of Brainiac" is a Superman crossover story arc published by DC Comics in April 2024. The series is co-written by Joshua Williamson with artwork by Rafael Sandoval, Rico Ossio, and Edwin Galmon.
