The Adidas Cup was an annual football competition in South Korean football and the Korean League Cup held by the K League Federation from 1992 to 2002.

Format

The Adidas Cup is classified as a cup competition, but its format was similar to typical league until 1997. In 1998, 2001, and 2002, the participating clubs were divided into two groups, and the top two clubs of each group advanced to the knockout stage. In 1999 and 2000, it was held as a knockout tournament.

Daegu FC is a South Korean professional football club based in Daegu. The club was founded as a community club at the end of 2002, and made their K League 1 debut in 2003. Daegu has played mostly in the K League 1 but was relegated at the end of the 2013 season to the K League 2. They were promoted back to the top tier for the 2017 season and went on to win the Korean FA Cup in 2018, which qualified them for the 2019 AFC Champions League. The club's best season in K League 1 was in 2021, when they finished third out of twelve teams. The same year, they were also runners-up of the Korean FA Cup and made it to the Round of 16 in the 2021 AFC Champions League.

Daejeon Hana Citizen Football club

Daejeon Hana Citizen Football Club is a South Korean professional football team, based in the city of Daejeon. At the time of its foundation in 1997, Daejeon Citizen was the first community club in South Korea, not belonging to any company. The club first entered the K League for the 1997 season, finishing in seventh place. In spite of a limited budget, Daejeon won the 2001 Korean FA Cup. It has not achieved sustained success in the K League, historically occupying the middle and lower reaches of the standings each season. At the end of the 2013 season, Daejeon was relegated to the K League Challenge, the second-tier league.

Saša Drakulić is a retired Serbian footballer. The striker went to South Korea in 1995 and during his nine seasons in the K League made a name for himself as one of the most successful foreign players ever in the league.

Korean FA Cup Football tournament

The Korean FA Cup is a national football cup knockout competition of South Korea, held annually by the Korea Football Association (KFA). Before the FA Cup, two predecessors All Joseon Football Tournament (1921–1940) and Korean National Football Championship (1946–2000) existed, but the FA Cup did not succeed their records. The winner qualifies to the next season's AFC Champions League group stage.

2008–09 UEFA Champions League 54th season of the UEFA club football tournament

The 2008–09 UEFA Champions League was the 54th edition of Europe's premier club football tournament and the 17th edition under the current UEFA Champions League format. The final was played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on 27 May 2009. It was the eighth time the European Cup final has been held in Italy and the fourth time it has been held at the Stadio Olimpico. The final was held at the National Stadium in Tokyo on 7 November 2009. The winners, South Korean club Pohang Steelers, qualified for the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The 2011 AFC Champions League was the 30th edition of the top-level Asian club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the 9th under the current AFC Champions League title. The winners, Al-Sadd qualified for the 2011 FIFA Club World Cup in Japan.

Generation Adidas Cup Football tournament

The Generation Adidas Cup is a competition run by Major League Soccer for all U-17 MLS academy teams. As part of the "Home Grown Initiative," the Generation Adidas Cup focused on player development while providing elite competition for those involved. From 2014 onwards international club sides have been invited to the competition to test MLS academies against foreign opposition, Stoke City of England became the first international winners of the tournament in the same year.
