Aftershock Festival is a hard rock and heavy metal festival in Sacramento, California, started in 2012. [2] [3]

History

In 2019, the festival expanded to three days, and in 2021 Aftershock expanded to 4 days, October 7 to 10. [4] [5]

In 2022, Aftershock attracted an estimated 160,000 fans to the festival. [6]

Previously in 2020, it was postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Danny Wimmer Presents announced because of the unfortunate events a Thursday night will be added for free for anyone who purchased their tickets in advance.

Aftershock 2023 took place during a week of high temperatures and hydration stations were provided to festival goers. [15] [16] Pantera pulled out of the festival due to "circumstances beyond our control", being replaced by Stone Temple Pilots. [17] Prior to Aftershock, Corey Taylor injured his leg during a show in Los Angeles and also pulled out of the festival. Members of his touring group were also having difficulties with Covid-19. [18]

They were also one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the East Coast. Anthrax's lineup has changed numerous times over their career, leaving Ian as the only constant member of the band. Ian and Benante are the only two members to appear on all of Anthrax's albums, while Bello has been a member of Anthrax since 1984, replacing Lilker.

Pantera is an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas, formed in 1981 by the Abbott brothers, and currently composed of vocalist Phil Anselmo, bassist Rex Brown, and touring musicians Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante. The group's best-known lineup consisted of the Abbott brothers along with Brown and Anselmo, who joined in 1982 and 1986 respectively. The band is credited for developing and popularizing the subgenre of groove metal in the 1990s. Regarded as one of the most successful and influential bands in heavy metal history, Pantera has sold around 20 million records worldwide and has received four Grammy nominations.

Darrell Lance Abbott, best known by his stage name Dimebag Darrell, was an American musician. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest metal guitarists of all time.

Fozzy is an American heavy metal band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1999 by lead guitarist Rich Ward and drummer Frank Fontsere. The band's current lineup consists of vocalist Chris Jericho, Ward, second guitarist Billy Grey, bassist P. J. Farley and drummer Grant Brooks. They reunited in 2000 and since 2015, the group has consisted of Corey Taylor, Josh Rand (guitar), Christian Martucci (guitar), Johny Chow (bass) and Roy Mayorga (drums). Longtime members Joel Ekman and Shawn Economaki left the band in 2006 and 2011, respectively. Former lead guitarist Jim Root left in 2014. The band has been on an indefinite hiatus since 2020.

Aside from Slipknot, Knotfest has featured a diverse alumni of past performers including Deftones, Marilyn Manson, Lamb of God, Bring Me the Horizon, Prong, Deadly Apples, In This Moment, Amen, Butcher Babies and Prayers.
