Aguibou Camara (born 20 May 2001) is a Guinean professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or a winger for Greek Super League club Atromitos, on loan from Olympiacos, and the Guinea national team.

Club career

On 29 March 2019, Camara signed his first professional contract with Lille in France, with the deal lasting for five years. [1] He made his professional debut in a Coupe de France match against Dijon on 10 February 2021, and scored in the 15th minute of the game. [2]

On 13 July 2021, he joined Olympiacos. The 20-year-old joined the Greek giants from Lille in the summer, having only played once for the reigning Ligue 1 champions. [3] The Guinea international has quickly forced himself into Pedro Martins' plans. On 6 August 2021, he scored his first goal with the club against PFC Ludogorets Razgrad, as a late substitute, helping Olympiacos to avoid overall defeat at Karaiskaki Stadium in the first match of the third qualifying round of 2021–22 UEFA Champions League qualifying phase and play-off round. [4] On 17 October 2021, he opened the score in a 2–1 away win against PAS Giannina [5] and a week later he opened the score in a 2−1 home derby game against rivals PAOK, being the main protagonist of the match. [6] On 21 November, he opened the scoring in a triumphant 3−2 away win against rivals AEK. [7] On 6 February 2022, he opened the score in a 3-0 away win against Ionikos F.C. [8]

International career

A youth international for Guinea, Camara represented the Guinea U20s for the 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations qualification matches.[ citation needed ] He made his senior debut for Guinea in a 1–0 friendly loss to the Comoros on 12 October 2019. [9] On 21 December 2021, he was called up for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

In June 2023, he was included in the final squad of the Guinean under-23 national team for the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted in Morocco, [10] where the Syli finished in fourth place. [11] [12]

The 2020–21 season was the 96th season in existence of Olympiacos and the club's 62nd consecutive season in the top flight of Greek football. The season was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and all Olympiacos' games were played behind closed doors. Olympiacos participated in the Greek Super League winning their 46th title, finishing 26 points ahead of PAOK who came second. Domestically the team participated in the Greek Football Cup as well. They reached the final where they lost to PAOK. Olympiacos qualified also for the UEFA Champions League group stage for a second consecutive season but failed to qualify to the knock-out phase. Having finished third in their group, they were then transferred to UEFA Europa League knockout phase. The season covers the period from 20 August 2020 to 22 May 2021.

The Greek Basketball Super Cup or Hellenic Basketball Super Cup, is the top-tier level professional basketball national super cup competition in Greece. The first edition of the tournament, was organized by the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.), in 1986. It was contested by the Greek Basket League champions and the Greek Basketball Cup winners. However, the Greek Basketball Super Cup was revived in 2020, by the Hellenic Basketball Association (HEBA), under a final four tournament format.

The 2021–22 season was the 97th season in existence of Olympiacos and the club's 63rd consecutive season in the top flight of Greek football. Olympiacos participated in the Greek Super League winning their 47th title, finishing 19 points ahead of PAOK who came second. Olympiacos also participated in this season's Greek Cup, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. During the season Pedro Martins became the longest-serving Piraeus coach in a single term. The season covers the period from July 2021 to late May 2022.

The 2022–23 season was the 98th season in existence of Olympiacos and the club's 64th consecutive season in the top flight of Greek football. In addition to the Greek Super League, Olympiacos participated in this season's Greek Cup, UEFA Champions League. The season covers the period from June 2022 to late May 2023.
