Air Horizont Limited is a Maltese charter airline headquartered in Msida, Malta with aircraft operating bases at London Southend Airport and Milan Malpensa Airport. It is a subsidiary of Corporacion Aragonesa Aeronautica S.A.. [1] [2]

History

Air Horizont was founded in 2014 by pilots Manuel Sahli and Juan Luis Díez. [3] Air Horizont attempted to launch scheduled operations in 2011, but failed due to the airline being unable to secure adequate funds.

The airline was set to commence operations in May 2015 using a Boeing 737-400 registered 9H-ZAZ, serving Munich, Seville, Alicante and Rome twice a week. [4] However, the launch was postponed to July 2015, [3] citing delays in receiving its air operating permit. In June 2015 it was announced that Air Horizont will not operate scheduled flights and instead focus on charter operations. [5] [6]

Since its founding, the airline has transported more than 1.5 million passengers to more than 250 airports. While being a commercial charter airline, they also specialise in VIP transport, most notably flying several well-known international sports teams around Europe. [7]

The airline has two permanent bases at London Southend Airport and Milan Malpensa Airport, with temporary operating bases at Zaragoza, Bratislava and Porto. [8]

Air One S.p.A. was an Italian low-cost airline which operated as Air One "Smart Carrier". It operated as Alitalia's low-cost subsidiary with operating bases located in Catania, Palermo, Pisa, Venice and Verona; while Tirana was a focus city. Milan Malpensa Airport is the largest international airport in northern Italy, serving Lombardy, Piedmont and Liguria, as well as the Swiss Canton of Ticino. The airport is 49 kilometres (30 mi) northwest of Milan, next to the Ticino river dividing Lombardy and Piedmont. The airport was opened in 1909 by Giovanni Agusta and Gianni Caproni to test their aircraft prototypes, before switching to civil operation in 1948.

Buzz is a Polish airline headquartered in Warsaw. Formerly called Ryanair Sun, it is a subsidiary of the Irish airline company Ryanair Holdings and a sister airline to Ryanair DACTooltip Designated activity company, Ryanair UK, Malta Air and Lauda Europe.

Malta Air is a low-cost airline that operates from Malta. It is a joint venture between Ryanair and the Government of Malta.
