The Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser is a tabloid newspaper published by Scottish and Universal Newspapers, a division of Reach plc, in Airdrie and Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire. The Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser is a weekly newspaper, printed every Wednesday, the newspaper printed in Blantyre.

Tom Spence was a Scottish football player and manager. He was born in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. Spence played for Stirling Albion, Clydebank, Clyde and Kilmarnock and was captain of the Stirling Albion team which defeated Selkirk 20–0 in 1984.

Section B are a group of football supporters who follow Airdrieonians F.C., and before the current club's formation in 2002, followed the original Airdrieonians. Gartcairn Football Academy Juniors, commonly referred to as Gartcairn Juniors, are a Scottish semi-professional football club from the town of Airdrie, North Lanarkshire who play in the West of Scotland League Premier Division.

The 1987–88 season was Kilmarnock's 86th in Scottish League Competitions. After a troublesome season exacerbated by their lack of scoring, the club staved off relegation, finishing in 10th place, one point ahead East Fife and Dumbarton who were relegated.
