The Bashkirs are a Kipchak Turkic ethnic group, indigenous to Russia. They are concentrated in Bashkortostan, a republic of the Russian Federation and in the broader historical region of Badzhgard, which spans both sides of the Ural Mountains, where Eastern Europe meets North Asia. Smaller communities of Bashkirs also live in the Republic of Tatarstan, the oblasts of Perm Krai, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Tyumen, Sverdlovsk and Kurgan and other regions in Russia; sizable minorities exist in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The Hambletonian Stakes is a major American harness race, named in honor of Hambletonian 10, a foundation sire of the Standardbred horse breed, also known as the "Father of the American Trotter." The Hambletonian is held annually for three-year-old trotting Standardbreds. It is the first event in the Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Trotters. The Hambletonian is run at Meadowlands Racetrack on the first Saturday in August.

Kapova cave is a limestone karst cave in the Burzyansky District of Bashkortostan, Russia, ca. 200 km (120 mi) south-east of Ufa, in the southern Ural mountains. Located on the Belaya River in the natural reserve Shulgan-Tash, the cave is best known for the 16,000 years old Upper Paleolithic rock paintings and drawings.

Bashkir State Academic Drama TheaterMajit Gafuri operates in the Ufa city, the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan of Russian Federations. The foundation of theater was laid on December 4, 1919, in Sterlitamak - the capital of Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. The first art director of it was Valiulla Mortazin-Imansky. The theater has been moved to Ufa since 1922 and joined with the Tatar-Bashkir troupe of the Ufa State Theater. It has the status of academic drama theater since 1935 and was renamed as Majit Gafuri in 1971. The monument of "Majit Gafuri" was erected in front of the theater.
