Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (All India Marathi Literary Conference) is an annual conference for literary discussions by Marathi writers. Marathi is the official language of Maharashtra State. The first Marathi Sahitya Sammelan was held in Pune in 1878 under the chairmanship of Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade.

Ashok Ramchandra Kelkar (1929–2014) was a linguist and critical Marathi writer from Maharashtra, India. He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2002 and Sahitya Akademi Award for Marathi in 2010.

Dr. Akshaykumar Malharrao Kale born 27 July 1953, is a critic of modern Marathi poetry, and was Professor and Head of Marathi Department in RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur, India. In the field of criticism of modern Marathi poetry, his contributions have attracted the attention of scholars of Marathi language and literature throughout Maharashtra. He was the president of prestigious 90th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan held in Dombivali. Kale is also member of general Council of Sahitya Akademi, India.

Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad is a literary institution situated in the Indian state of Maharashtra for the purpose of the "furtherance of Marathi language and literature". It was established in Pune in 1906. The Encyclopedia of Indian Literature considers it as Marathi's first representative literary body. The Parishad arranges annual conferences runs Maharashtra Sahitya Patrika a Marathi quarterly, provides a reference library, conducts qualifying examinations in Marathi language and literature and classes for non-Marathi speakers in Pune. It has undertaken the publishing a History of Marathi literature. It has constituted various awards in the field of literature. The Parishad according to Deshpande lead in the demand for the formation of a separate linguistic state – Maharashtra.

Dnyanesh Maharao is a writer and editor of renowned Marathi weekly magazine Chitralekha. He is in active journalist since 1 June 1989. Earlier he was Assistant Editor of Marathi weekly magazine Vivek, from 1 April 1985 to 31 May 1989. He has written more than 20 books in Marathi as well as in English. He has written a famous book: Thackeray : life & style.

Francis D'Britto is a Catholic priest, writer, and environmental activist from Vasai, Mumbai. He is the author of the Subodh Bible, a translation of the Bible to Marathi.

Dr. Anil Sapkal is an academician, creative writer in Marathi and a film maker. In 2014 he became a Professor at Marathi Department, University of Mumbai. He wrote the screen play and dialogue for the recent Marathi feature film Dhol Taashe.
