Alain Simard CC (born 1950) is a Canadian founder, producer, and manager of music festivals.
Simard was born in Montreal, Quebec, in 1950. [1]
He attained a degree in classical studies at Collège Saint-Ignace. He began to produce underground music live shows at the college student café, La Clef, around 1969. [1]
In the early 1970s, Simard brought artists such as Pink Floyd, Genesis, and B. B. King to Montreal, working with Productions Kosmos. [1]
He went on to manage Quebecois musical artists Paul Piché, Offenbach, Claude Dubois, and Michel Rivard. [1]
He established TV production company Spectel-Video with Momentum Vidéofilm and in 1978 co-founded ADISQ, which supports independent music industry in Quebec, with Guy Latraverse. [1]
Along with André Ménard and Denyse McCann, Simard founded L'Équipe Spectra in 1977. This company founded the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, the FrancoFolies de Montréal and Montréal en lumière. [2]
In 2005, Simard was president of the New Montreal FilmFest. [3]
In 2003, La Presse dubbed Simard "the most influential personality in the Quebec cultural sector". [1]

Le Vent du Nord is a Canadian folk music group from Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu in Quebec. The band performs traditional Québécois music, as well as original numbers in this style, in French. Diane Tell is a Canadian musician who was born in Quebec City, Quebec. She entered the Val d’Or conservatory at the age of six. She continued her studies at the Montréal conservatory and then at CEGEP Saint-Laurent and she wrote her first songs at the age of twelve. As one of Québec's pioneering female singer-songwriters, she proposed her personal repertoire over the course of her first four albums. She won six Félix prizes before the age of 25: breakout artist, best artist, best album, best song and, twice, songwriter of the year. Several of her songs have become SOCAN Classics and Si j’étais un homme was inducted in the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017. She earned a MIDEM Award for her album Chimères and a Victoire Award for her album Faire à nouveau connaissance. In 1990, she was chosen by Plamondon, Berger and Savary to play a leading role in the musical La légende de Jimmy. Following that, she played the lead and composed the score for another musical, Marilyn Montreuil, written and stage directed by Jérôme Savary and the Théâtre National du Chaillot, in Paris. Over 300 performances of both shows were presented in France and Europe. Over the past 25 years, Tell has toured relentlessly, written, composed and recorded in Canada, France, the U.K. and Switzerland. In 2018, she produced her 15th studio album of original material in Montréal. As an independent artist, she owns the phonographic rights of her entire catalogue, manages her own publishing company, and produces and finances her albums herself. Also a photographer, she directs the majority of her music videos. Her YouTube channel gets 400,000 views per month on average. Cirque Éloize is a contemporary circus company founded in Montreal in 1993 by Jeannot Painchaud, Daniel Cyr, Claudette Morin, and Julie Hamelin. Kleztory is a klezmer and world music ensemble founded in 2000 and based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. While remaining respectful of the rich heritage of klezmer, Kleztory takes the liberty of arranging parts of the traditional repertoire.
