Albert Nico is a Filipino-Malaysian hairstylist. His clientele include the royal families of Malaysia, local celebrities and socialists. [1] [2] [3]

Career

At the age of 15, Nico worked as a shampoo boy at a local hair salon called Hotheads Salon and then picked up basic hairstyling skills. [4]

In 1980, when Nico was 20 years old, he took over the business at Hotheads Salon. He also financially supported himself through part-time modeling to pursue formal hairstyling education in Hong Kong.

Nico conducted various hairstyling seminars and was invited to be one of the judges at international hairstyling competitions that were held locally and globally. His exposures include demonstrating hairstyling at hairdressing events globally. [5] [6] [7]

He is also one of the L’Oreal Professionel Artistic Ambassadors. [8]

Nico received the Estetica Cover Award 2000 by Estetica Magazine in Italy. In year 2008, Hotheads salon rebrand to Albert Nico Boutique Salon, located in Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Bintang. His work has been published in Vogue Italia .

Publication

In 2012, Nico issued a self-published book, When Dreams Come Alive, containing his memoirs, famous quotes, testimonials, and photographs. The book has a foreword by Datuk Dr. Paddy Bowie. [9]

Philanthropy Interest

In 2009, Nico provided haircuts at the Seri Setia Old Folks Home, together with the rest of his trainees. Nico also collaborated with his friends to include a manicure and pedicure sessions for the elderly too. [10] Nico also participated in the 'Hairdressers Against Aids' campaign by L'Oreal. [11]

The Rachel haircut, commonly known as simply "The Rachel", is an eponymous hairstyle popularized by American actress Jennifer Aniston. Named after Rachel Green, the character she played on the American sitcom Friends (1994-2004), Aniston debuted the haircut during the show's first season, and continued to wear it throughout its second and third seasons while the series was nearing peak popularity. Designed by Aniston's hairstylist Chris McMillan to repair her damaged hair and grow out her bangs, "The Rachel" is a voluminous shoulder-length haircut, with several distinct layers that frame and turn outwards from its wearer's face. It has been described as a variation on both the shag and bob haircuts.

Kenneth Everette Battelle, more usually known as Mr. Kenneth, was an American hairdresser from the 1950s until his death. Sometimes described as the world's first celebrity hairdresser, Kenneth achieved international fame for creating Jacqueline Kennedy's bouffant in 1961. He counted Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and many of America's most high-profile socialites such as Brooke Astor and Happy Rockefeller among his clients. In 1961 he became the first, and only, hairdresser to win a Coty Award.

Leonard Lewis, known professionally as Leonard of Mayfair, was a British hairdresser, credited with creating the haircut that launched the career of prominent 1960s model Twiggy as well as establishing the careers of other successful British hairdressers, including John Frieda, Daniel Galvin, Nicky Clarke, Keith Wainwright and Michael Gordon. His hair styles were at their most fashionable during the Vogue sittings of the late 1960s and early 1970s, for which he would "illustrate the exuberant moment when hair was somehow a totem of youth and freedom in itself". Gonna Make It is a Mediacorp Channel 8 romance drama that was broadcast from 30 September 2013 to 25 October 2013 and consist of 20 episodes. It stars Julie Tan, Bryan Wong, Xu Bin, Edwin Goh and Ya Hui as the casts of the series. The show aired at 9pm on weekdays and had a repeat telecast at 8am the following day.

James Albert Markham is an American hair stylist and serial entrepreneur, who has founded four hair care companies– Markham Products, ABBA Pure and Natural, PureOlogy Serious Colour Care, and, most recently, ColorProof Color Care Authority. He was also celebrity stylist Jay Sebring's protege and successor of Sebring International after Sebring was murdered by the Manson Family. Markham is known for advancing the Sebring cutting technique and introduced a generation of men to a new way of cutting and caring for their hair in the early 1970s, which emphasizes cutting hair in the direction it grows, daily washing and conditioning, and blow-drying. By 1973 Markham had improved upon the concept and took it nationwide over the next decade, coining the technique The Markham Method. Under his men's hair care line, Markham Products, he personally trained and certified thousands of barbers and stylists as Markham Style Innovators. Cha made her debut television appearance via SBS's Star King in February 2011, and now features frequently as guests on various South Korean television shows, such as Channel M's Get It Beauty and MBC's My Little Television. Cha is renowned for the self-hair styling tips that she shares during her television appearances, and has since widened her media exposure through channels such as radio shows, blogs, social media websites and home shopping networks.

Sunny Day is an animated children's television series produced by Silvergate Media. The series revolves around Sunny, a tween-age hairdresser who runs her own beauty salon with the help of her dog Doodle, hair colorist Rox, and receptionist Blair. Sunny's best customers are Timmy, who is in charge of hosting events and shows in Sunny's hometown, and Cindy, the unlucky town baker who has a constant bad hair day. The series is loosely based on the Random House picture book series The Fairytale Hairdresser by Abie Longstaff and illustrated by Lauren Beard. Each episode features an original song written by Peter Lurye.

Sahag Jamgotchian, better known as John Sahag, was a Manhattan celebrity hairstylist, best known for the haircut he gave Demi Moore for the 1990 movie Ghost.
