By the beginning of his high school tenure, Bailey began his teaching career as a private instructor and mentor in his high school music programs where he played the drum set, concert percussion, electric bass, upright bass, and other musical instruments. He also created drills for the marching percussion and wrote music and cadences for the school's marching band.

Bailey gained significant exposure in his hometown. In 2006, Bailey was selected to be in the Grammy Band and performed with the Gibson/Baldwin Grammy High school Jazz Ensemble. [1]

The drum is a member of the percussion group of musical instruments. In the Hornbostel-Sachs classification system, it is a membranophone. Drums consist of at least one membrane, called a drumhead or drum skin, that is stretched over a shell and struck, either directly with the player's hands, or with a percussion mallet, to produce sound. There is usually a resonant head on the underside of the drum. Other techniques have been used to cause drums to make sound, such as the thumb roll.
