Allison Beth Goertz (born March 2, 1991) is an American comedy musician, writer and former editor for Mad magazine. Goertz is known for her satirical songs based on various pop culture topics. Her videos were originally posted on YouTube under the name of "Cossbysweater", which has been changed to simply "Allie Goertz".

Early life

Goertz grew up in Long Beach, California, the daughter of an elementary school teacher mother and a web graphic designer father. [1]

Career

In December 2015, Goertz released a concept album based on the Adult Swim series Rick and Morty , Sad Dance Songs, with the album's cover emulating the animation and logo of the series. [2] [3] The album was made possible through Kickstarter. [4] She is co-host, along with Julia Prescott, of Everything's Coming Up Simpsons (formerly Everything's Coming Up Podcast), a podcast dedicated to The Simpsons .

Subjects of her songs have included the film The Room , the character Milhouse from the television show The Simpsons , and the game Dungeons & Dragons. [5] Her style has been compared to that of Bo Burnham. [6]

Affiliations and memberships

Goertz has served as a social media producer for shows including @midnight for Comedy Central. [7] In 2018, Goertz became an editor at Mad magazine, [8] leaving in June 2019, midway through production of issue #9.

She is also a canvasser for the Democratic Socialists of America. [9] [10]

The band Nerf Herder released a song entitled "Allie Goertz" on their 2016 album Rockingham . [11]

Rick and Morty is an American adult animated science fiction sitcom created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon for Cartoon Network's nighttime programming block Adult Swim. The Vindicators is an American animated superhero comedy spin-off of the Rick and Morty franchise, owned by Warner Bros. Rick and Morty is an American animated science-fiction comedy franchise, whose eponymous duo consists of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith. Rick and Morty were created by cartoonist Justin Roiland for a 2006 parody film of Back to the Future for Channel 101, a short film festival co-founded by Dan Harmon. After six years, the sketch was developed into Rick and Morty, a half-hour prime time show that was a hit for Adult Swim, receiving universal acclaim across all seasons. Alongside the original television series, the characters of the show have been featured in a variety of media, including spin-offs, comic books, musical releases and video games. The show has earned hundreds of millions of dollars in income across their merchandising and media franchise.
