Norazlina Amir Sharipuddin, known professionally as Amelina (born 4 August 1974) is a Malaysian singer who gain success in the 1990s. [1] [2] She is widely known for popularizing Dangdut music which is presented in contemporary pop, earning her the title, Ratu Dangdut Malaysia ("Malaysian Queen of Dangdut") due to her success and achievements in recording sales of each of her albums. Early life

Amelina was born on 4 August 1974 in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. The eldest of five siblings to Hasmah Ramli and Amir Sharipuddin Abdul Raof, she grew up and attended school in her hometown before migrating to Kuala Lumpur to become a singer in 1994 when she was 20 years old.. Prior to venturing into the art of music, she worked in an electronics factory TDK for almost two years. [6]

While being an artist, Amelina was managed by his brother, Amir Hanafi or affectionately known as Angah and assisted by his mother, Hasmah. Her mother was the person responsible for sparking the idea for his to try the rhythm of Dangdut. [7] During her popularity, Amelina, who was close to her father Amir Sharifuddin, once gifted a piece of land in her hometown to build a bungalow that housed their family there until now. [8]
