American Dream is the second EP by pop rock band Rocky Loves Emily, released on November 22, 2010 by Tooth & Nail Records. It was produced by Casey Bates and is the follow-up to the band's independent debut, the What What What EP .
In early 2010, Rocky Loves Emily was on Copeland's farewell tour. At a Seattle spot on the tour, an A&R executive from Tooth & Nail Records spotted them, subsequently bringing them to the attention of the label and getting them signed. While waiting for Tooth & Nail to officially announce the signing, the band spent the summer of 2010 recording demos for the inevitable album in Michigan, at a cabin owned by drummer Pete Kalinowski's family. At the end of the summer, Tooth & Nail flew the band back to Seattle to record with producer Casey Bates. [1]
The EP was released on November 22, 2010. The release was preceded by the lead single "Clueless", which was accompanied by a music video depicting the band holding auditions to find a lead singer.

American Dream received largely positive critical reception. Samantha Schaumberg of Jesus Freak Hideout deemed it a "more than satisfactory first release": "Very little new ground is explored musically, but Rock Loves Emily's polished sound definitely makes them a worthy competitor in the genre." [2] AbsolutePunk's Ryan Gardner found the record's flaws to be "mainly a lack of depth or innovation," as well as the lyrics "[pulling] the record down incalculably, as well, with nearly every track being about girls." Nevertheless, he concluded that "there’s no denying how ridiculously catchy each track sounds...if these six guys can grow and mature with their music and lyrics – perhaps taking hints from many of T&N’s other bands – they definitely will have a bright future." MxPx is an American punk rock band from Bremerton, Washington, founded in 1992 as Magnified Plaid. The band has skate punk leanings, with connections to the pop punk and formerly the Christian punk scene. As of 2016, current members include Mike Herrera on lead vocals and bass guitar, Yuri Ruley on drums and percussion, Tom Wisniewski on lead guitar and backing vocals and Chris Adkins on rhythm guitar and backing vocals. The band's discography includes twelve studio albums, four EPs, four compilation albums, a live album, a VHS tape, a DVD and 20 singles. Anberlin is an American alternative rock band formed in Winter Haven, Florida in 2002, disbanded in 2014, and reunited in 2018. Since the beginning of 2007, the band consists of lead vocalist Stephen Christian, guitarists Joseph Milligan and Christian McAlhaney, bassist Deon Rexroat, and drummer Nathan Young.
Poor Old Lu was a pioneering alternative Christian band based in the American Northwest. The band experimented with a variety of sounds and genres, particularly grunge, funk and psychedelic rock. The band consisted of Scott Hunter (vocals), Jesse Sprinkle (drums), Aaron Sprinkle (guitar), and Nick Barber (bass). Hunter was the lyricist who wrote on philosophical, metaphorical, and spiritually oriented topics. Run Kid Run is a Christian pop/rock band from Carmi, Illinois and Morganfield, Kentucky, formed in 2006. Their debut album This Is Who We Are, was released on May 18, 2006 through Tooth & Nail Records. All of the members, except Paul Stewart, were originally from punk rock band Side Walk Slam on Tooth & Nail Records. The video for the song "We've Only Just Begun" was featured on the American Eagle music video store soundtrack after its release. The band's second album titled Love at the Core was released on April 29, 2008. Both albums were produced by James Paul Wisner. The song "Freedom" become a hit song on the Christian radio station Air 1. Their recent work in the studio with Mark Lee Townsend and Matt Thiessen brought forth Patterns, released November 15, 2011.
Capital Lights was an American Christian pop rock band from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Formed in 2002 as Aftereight, the band changed its name after signing to Tooth & Nail Records in 2008. The group initially disbanded in 2009, but reunited in late 2010. Presently, the group is on indefinite hiatus.
