Career
Before moving to Loyola Marymount University,Hussain taught as an associate professor of Religious Studies at California State University,Northridge.
A proponent of interfaith dialogue,Professor Hussain has published over 60 scholarly articles or book chapters on Islam and Muslims. He has lectured in academic arenas around the world,and appeared on several television programs,most notably Politically Incorrect [7] with Bill Maher and The Tavis Smiley Show . [8] He is a consultant for The Story of God with Morgan Freeman .
Professor Hussain is also a senior editor for religion for Oxford Handbooks Online. [9] Prior to his edited textbooks,he wrote Muslims and the Making of America,published in 2016 by Baylor University Press. [10] From 2011 to 2015 he was the editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Religion ,the flagship journal for the study of religion. [11] He is also on the editorial boards of four other scholarly journals for the study of religion. In 2005,he joined the Department of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University,the Jesuit university in Los Angeles. [12] He has written numerous scholarly articles on Islam and Muslims,and is recognized as an authority on Islam in North America. He is a fellow of the Los Angeles Institute for the Humanities. [13]

Gregory Kevin "Bo" Kimble is an American former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Loyola Marymount Lions. As a senior in the 1989–90 season, Kimble was named a consensus second-team All-American as well as the conference player of the year in the West Coast Conference (WCC). He led the 11th-seeded Lions to the regional finals of the NCAA tournament after the death of teammate Hank Gathers. Kimble was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the 1990 NBA draft with the eighth overall pick. He played three seasons in the NBA with the Clippers and the New York Knicks.
Joseph Franz Schacht was a British-German professor of Arabic and Islam at Columbia University in New York. He was the leading Western scholar on Islamic law, whose Origins of Muhammadan Jurisprudence (1950) is still considered a centrally important work on the subject. The author of many articles in the first and second editions of the Encyclopaedia of Islam, Schacht also co-edited, with C. E. Bosworth, the second edition of The Legacy of Islam for the Legacy series of Oxford University Press and authored a textbook under the title An Introduction to Islamic Law (1964).

He also served as interim director of Texas A&M's Race and Ethnic Studies Institute. His research has included examining race and class in social and reform movements of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He published Race, Social Reform and the Making of a Middle Class: The American Missionary Association in Atlanta, 1870–1900,. He is also the co-author of "The Mis-Education of Black America: Black Education Since An American Dillemma" with Walter R. Allen in An American Dilemma Revisited: Race Relations in A Changing World.

The Lions were led by fifth-year head coach Paul Westhead. They played their home games at Gersten Pavilion in Los Angeles, California as members of the West Coast Conference.
Mary Milligan was an American theologian, a university administrator, and a member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM) who served as the tenth general superior of the Institute of the RSHM (1980–1985). She was the first general superior of that religious order who was born in the United States. In 1987, she was appointed by the Vatican as special secretary to the International Synod of Bishops on the Laity as one of three U.S. experts. While undertaking that task, she lobbied for a stronger role for women within the Catholic Church. She served Loyola Marymount University as a professor, as provost, and subsequently as Dean of Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts. She went on to serve on the board of St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, California, and taught theology to seminarians.
