Amy Rose Silverman (born 1966) is an American real estate developer and philanthropist who serves as President and CEO of Rose Associates. [1] [2]

Biography

Rose was born to a Jewish family in 1966, [3] [4] one of three daughters of Susan (née Wechsler) and Elihu Rose. [5] [6] [7] She has two sisters, Isabel Rose Fagen (b. 1968), and Abigail Rose Blum (b. 1970). [8] [9] [10] [11] After graduating with a B.S. from the University of Michigan, she joined the family real estate development company, Rose Associates [1] [12] where she served as Vice President. [4] [13] She later became Executive Senior Managing Director [3] and in 2008, Co-President [14] along with her cousin Adam R. Rose. [1] [2] As Co-President, she focused on the firm's strategic positioning and business development. [1] In 2013, Rose Associates was one of the largest real estate management companies in New York with over 26,000 apartments. [15] and 220 employees. [16] In June 2017, she presided over the sale of Rose Associates' cooperative and condominium management division (with 8,250 units in 35 buildings in New York) to Terra Holdings. [17] In December 2017, she was named CEO and sole president. [18] After the sale, Rose Associates has $2.4 billion in projects in development and manages $15 billion in assets including 14,000 rental units throughout New York City. [18]

Philanthropy and board associations

Rose serves on the Young Presidents' Organization, The Real Estate Round Table, the Urban Land Institute, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association of New York, the Real Estate Board of New York, the Women's Forum Inc., WX, New York Women in Real Estate, the Dean's Advisory Council of Literature, Science and Arts at the University of Michigan, and on the board of directors of the Jewish Museum. [1] Since 2013, she has endowed the Rose Silverman Internship Fellowship at the University of Michigan; the fellowship provides funding for International Studies students so that they might participate in international internships. Personal life

In 1995, she married Jeffrey Lee Silverman. [4] She had three kids; David Evan, Samantha Belle and Julie Elizabeth. Her sister, Isabel Rose, is the author of the 2005 novel The J.A.P. Chronicles which she also adapted into an Off Broadway musical. [3] [20] [21] She funded the 2011 documentary film Miss Representation , which explores how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in influential positions by circulating limited and often disparaging portrayals of women.

The Rochester Women's Rights Convention of 1848 met on August 2, 1848 in Rochester, New York. Many of its organizers had participated in the Seneca Falls Convention, the first women's rights convention, two weeks earlier in Seneca Falls, a smaller town not far away. The Rochester convention elected Abigail Bush as its presiding officer, making it the first U.S. public meeting composed of both sexes to be presided by a woman. This controversial step was opposed even by some of the meeting's leading participants. The convention approved the Declaration of Sentiments that had first been introduced at the Seneca Falls Convention, including the controversial call for women's right to vote. It also discussed the rights of working women and took steps that led to the formation of a local organization to support those rights.

Terra Holdings, founded in 1995, is a parent company of several previously acquired real estate brokerage firms that focus on real estate in the New York City and Manhattan area. The company was established in 1995 and has since acquired Brown Harris Stevens, Feathered Nest, and Halstead Property. It also has a service arm known as the Vanderbilt Companies that focus on insurance, appraisals, advertising, and marketing. Co-chairmen and owners of Terra Holdings are David Burris, Kent Swig, Arthur Zeckendorf, and William Lie Zeckendorf. Their head office is at 770 Lexington Avenue. In June 2017, they purchased the cooperative and condominium management division from Rose Associates.

Susan Goldberg is an American journalist, former editor in chief of National Geographic Magazine, and current President and CEO of the WGBH Educational Foundation, the largest provider of programming to PBS. Before joining National Geographic, Goldberg worked at Bloomberg and USA Today. She is an advocate for cross-platform storytelling.
