Ananth Vaidyanathan (born 1 November 1957) is an Indian singing trainer, who is popular for his appearances on reality singing television shows. He is often regarded as India's leading voice expert. He has also worked on few films as an actor and as a playback singer. [1]

Career

Ananth Vaidyanathan was born in Jamshedpur and began studying music from veterans T. M. Thiagarajan and Sangita Kalanidhi at the age of seven. [2] He earned an MBA from XLRI - Xavier School of Management and also obtained his undergraduate degree in Economics from the Loyola College, Chennai. After completing his higher studies, he then joined the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, a musical academy in Kolkata at the age of 24. [3] [2] During his early career as a singing trainer, he labelled himself as a victim of wrong vocal techniques. He also confronted issues regarding the voice while training in Hindustani music while being professionally trained in classical music. In his early 20s, he also lost his speaking voice and was advised to sing slowly due to his vocal issues. [4] Despite the odds, he became a professional voice expert in the 1990s and started conducting workshops across various parts of the country. [5]

He began teaching music from 2003, giving voice lessons and training to contestants on various Indian TV reality shows from 2006. [2] He also established a voice training academy Ananth Vaidyanathan Gurukulam in Coimbatore. During his television career as a voice expert, he has worked as a part of the Airtel Super Singer and Josco Indian Voice-Mazhavil Manorama shows, where he provides voice training to the contestants. In 2010, he appeared as an actor in Bala's Tamil comedy drama film, Avan Ivan , where he portrayed a polygamist who was the father of the two lead characters, played by Vishal and Arya. In 2018, he took part as one of the sixteen contestants in the Tamil reality television show Bigg Boss hosted by Kamal Haasan. [8] He was the second contestant to be eliminated from the show, departing on day 21. [9] [10] He also made a special appearance as a politician in the film LKG. [11]

Airtel Super Singer 2006 - Thamizhagathil Brahmaanda Kuralukkaana Thedal, the first season of the Airtel Super Singer show and Vijay TV's Super Singer series, was a reality TV singing competition in the Tamil language that aired on Star Vijay and was hosted by singer/voice artist Chinmayi Sripaada. The judging panel of this season includes, Anuradha Sriram, P. Unnikrishnan, and Srinivas. The show first premiered on 28 April 2006, with episodes originally aired on Star Vijay on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday nights at 7:00 pm.

Airtel Super Singer Junior Ithu Thamizhagathin Chellakuralukkana Thedal – is a reality TV show since February 2007 hosted by Vijay TV, a popular Tamil channel of the Star Network, and sponsored by Bharti Airtel. It is a singing talent hunt for the children of age group 6–15. This is the junior version of the Airtel Super Singer show, which premiered on 28 April 2006. Auditions are held in various parts of Tamil Nadu, India. The show attracts many kids from all over the state and rigorous multi-level selection procedures are done in order to select the contestants for the competition.

The third season of Airtel Super Singer Junior - Thamizhagathin Chellakuralukkana Thedal premiered on 17 October 2011 and 26 October 2012. The music competition reality TV show was again telecast on Vijay TV, and Bharti Airtel returned to sponsor the show. Episodes were telecast between Monday to Friday each week at 9:00pm. Children from the age of 6 years to the age of 14 years were permitted to audition to showcase their talent on Vijay TV's platform. Apart from gaining recognition from acclaimed names of the music industry and being a child singing icon, the show promised that its winner would be honored with a 3-bedroom Villa worth Rs.60 lakhs from its sponsor, Arun Excello Temple Green Township. Aajeedh Khalique was crowned the winner of Airtel Super Singer Junior Season 3. Pragathy Guruprasad was the first runner up.

Airtel Super Singer 5Thamizhagathil Brahmaanda Kuralukkaana Thedal, the fifth season of the Airtel Super Singer show, is a reality-based Indian singing competition in Tamil language that aired on Vijay TV. It was designed to be a talent hunt to find the best voice of Tamil Nadu. The show premiered on 1 June 2015, and episodes were telecasted on weekdays each week at 9:30 pm. Persons above the age of 16 years were permitted to audition to showcase their talent on Vijay TV's platform. This program was sponsored by Airtel.

Pushpavanam Kuppusamy is a Tamil folk singer, playback singer, lyricist, writer and music composer. He has been credited for reviving the Naatupura Paatu, a type of Tamil folk art. Together with his wife Anitha Kuppusamy, he has conducted several concerts of Tamil folk songs, and the couple have together brought out several albums of authentic Tamil folk music. He has also written books on Tamil Folk songs. He appears on Television Channels like Sun TV, Vijay TV, and Makkal TV performing musical shows. He is a recipient of the Kalaimamani award from the Government of Tamil Nadu.

<i>Bigg Boss</i> (Tamil season 2) Season of television series

Bigg Boss 2 was the second season of the reality television series, Bigg Boss, and was hosted by Kamal Haasan. The season had 17 housemates, and was filmed with 60 cameras. It ran for 15 weeks, and aired on Star Vijay weekdays from 9–10:30 am and 9–11:00 pm on weekends. Hotstar provided content not aired on television and provided Fun Unlimited, a parallel weekly programme. Hosted by Rio Raj, it humorously described events in the house.

<i>Bigg Boss</i> (Tamil season 3) Season of television series

Bigg Boss 3 was the third season of the reality TV game show Bigg Boss, which premiered on Star Vijay on 23 June 2019 - 6 October 2019. Frooti was the sponsor for the third season. Kamal Haasan returned as host for the third time. The show was aired on Star Vijay. Hotstar also provided content aired on television.

Senthil Ganesh is an Indian folk, playback singer and actor. He rose to prominence after winning the reality show, Super Singer 6, in 2018 which was aired in Star Vijay. He made his acting debut with the film Thirudu Pogatha Manasu (2014). He married fellow folk singer Rajalakshmi in 2012.
