Anastasia Electra Ashley (born February 10, 1987) is an American professional surfer and model. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
Ashley was born in San Clemente, California on February 10, 1987. [6] [7] [8] She began surfing at the age of 5 right before moving to Hawaii. [9] At the age of 6, she won a surf contest using a run-down board that she found in a trash can outside of her house. [10] By the age of 7, she picked up a sponsor to replace her run-down board with new ones. [10]
In 2003, she received the Triple Crown Rookie of the Year award. [10] At the age of 16, Ashley won her first major national title. [11] Later, she also won titles including two National Scholastic Surfing Association championships and the Professional Surfing Tour of America championship. [10] Ashley won the 2010 Pipeline Women's Pro in Hawaii. [1] She appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition in 2014. [12] As of September 8, 2014, Ashley is ranked 59th in the 2014 Women's Qualification Series. [13]
In September 2014, she started her own Gypsy Jet Set jewelry line in collaboration with OK1984, a jewelry company. [1] [14] [15] She was featured in the October 2014 issue of Maxim magazine. [16] In November 2014, she went to Ireland for a Web Summit on how to maintain a competitive edge in surfing with a focus on social media tools. Ashley was interested in convincing Taoiseach Enda Kenny to surf. [11]
Ashley appeared on Hell's Kitchen in the third episode of Season 14 where she taught the team challenge winners how to surf. She also attended as a dining room guest in that episode's dinner service. [17] [18]
Ashley is reported to have been a vegetarian in the past. [19] However, in 2017, she was a survivalist in the TV show Naked and Afraid , where she was seen eating fish.
Bethany Meilani Hamilton is an American professional surfer and writer. In 2003, she survived a shark attack in which her left arm was bitten off; ultimately, she returned to professional surfing and wrote about her experiences in the 2004 autobiography, Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board. The book was adapted into the 2011 feature film, Soul Surfer. Hamilton attributes her strength to her Christian faith.
Robert Kelly Slater is an American professional surfer, best known for being crowned World Surf League champion a record 11 times. Slater is widely regarded as the greatest professional surfer of all time, and holds 56 Championship Tour victories. He won the Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year in four-times. Slater is also the oldest surfer still active on the World Surf League, winning his 8th Billabong Pipeline Masters title at age 49.

Big wave surfing is a discipline within surfing in which experienced surfers paddle into, or are towed into, waves which are at least 20 feet high, on surf boards known as "guns" or towboards. Sizes of the board needed to successfully surf these waves vary by the size of the wave as well as the technique the surfer uses to reach the wave. A larger, longer board allows a rider to paddle fast enough to catch the wave and has the advantage of being more stable, but it also limits maneuverability and surfing speed.

Patrick Shane Dorian, or "Shane", is an American surfer from Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. He spent 11 years touring on the World Championship Tour as a professional surfer. Dorian quit competition surfing in 2003 to focus on big waves. He is currently a big wave surfer and one of the best in the world at big wave riding.
The World Surf League (WSL) is the governing body for professional surfers and is dedicated to showcasing the world's best talent in a variety of progressive formats. The World Surf League was originally known as the International Professional Surfing founded by Fred Hemmings and Randy Rarick in 1976. IPS created the first world circuit of pro surfing events. In 1983 the Association of Surfing Pros took over management of the world circuit. In 2013, the ASP was acquired by ZoSea, backed by Paul Speaker, Terry Hardy, and Dirk Ziff. At the start of the 2015 season, the ASP changed its name to the World Surf League. Sophie Goldschmidt was appointed as WSL CEO on 19 July 2017. Paul Speaker had stepped down as CEO on 11 January 2017, and Dirk Ziff acted as the interim WSL CEO until Goldschmidt's appointment.

John "John John" Alexander Florence is an American professional surfer. He is known as "one of the most dominant pipe surfers of his era" and won back-to-back world titles on the 2016 World Surf League and 2017 World Surf League Men's Championship Tour. He is the first Hawaii-born surfer to win back-to-back world titles since the late Andy Irons. Florence qualified to represent the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in surfing. He qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Carissa Kainani Moore is a Hawaiian American Olympian, world champion surfer and activist. She was the first-ever winner of the Olympic Gold Medal in women's short board surfing in 2020. She was also the 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019 and 2021 World Surf League WSL Women's World Tour Champion. Moore is the first surfer in history to win a WSL world title and the Olympic title in the same year. She qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Adriano "Mineirinho" de Souza is a Brazilian professional surfer and also the 2015 WSL World Champion. He has been competing on the World Surf League Men's World Tour since 2005.
Gabriel Medina Pinto Ferreira is a Brazilian professional surfer who won the 2014, 2018 and 2021 WSL World Championships. With 18 WSL Championship Tour (CT) event wins and 31 Final appearances under his belt, Medina is one of the most experienced surfers when it comes to producing the best surfing under pressure. Medina is second only to Kelly Slater for the most World Titles among surfers currently on the men's CT. He qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games.
