Andries Thomas "Andre" Markgraaff (born 23 December 1956) [1] is a retired South African rugby union lock. He matriculated at Diamantveld High School and was a controversial national coach,who resigned after he was taped using the racial K-word. [2] [3] [4]
Markgraaff was selected for the South African team in 1986 against the Cavaliers but as an unused substitute. Markgraaff also represented Western Transvaal,Western Province,Griqualand West and the then South West Africa [5] in 20 games. He captained the South African Barbarians on a tour to Europe and the Junior Springboks.
In 1988,he became coach of Griqualand West. He became president of Griquas in 1991. [5]
In 1996,Markgraaff was appointed as the Springbok rugby coach. In 1997 Markgraaff was forced to quit after his controversial racial statements, [6] when he referred to a black senior rugby administrator Mluleki George as a "kaffir". [7] In his apology,Markgraaff said
During his short reign the Springboks won eight and lost five tests.
In 1998,Markgraaff took the Griquas to victory in the Vodacom Cup and then to the semifinals of the Currie Cup,losing by 11–27 to the Western Province. [8] He also coached the Cats in Super Rugby and was a founder of the PUK Rugby Institute.
Markgraaff made a comeback in rugby administration and was the Deputy President of SARFU and the convener of SARFU's technical committee.
Nicholas Vivian Haward Mallett is a former South African rugby union player who played for the Springboks,South Africa's national rugby union team,in 1984. He also coached the Springboks between 1997 and 2000 and was the head coach of Italy's rugby union team between 2007 and 2011.
Jacobus Francois Pienaar is a retired South African rugby union player. He played flanker for South Africa from 1993 until 1996,winning 29 international caps,all of them as captain. He is best known for leading South Africa to victory in the 1995 Rugby World Cup. After being dropped from the Springbok team in 1996,Pienaar went on to a career with English club Saracens.

Jean de Villiers is a South African former professional rugby union player. He started his career at wing,but played most of his career as an inside centre. De Villiers previously played for Western Province in the Currie Cup,the Stormers in Super Rugby,Leicester Tigers in Premiership Rugby and internationally for South Africa,for whom he was named captain in June 2012.
Griquas are a South African rugby union team that participates in the annual Currie Cup tournament. Their home ground is Griqua Park in Kimberley and they draw their players mostly from Northern Cape Province. Siyamthanda Kolisi is a South African professional rugby union player who currently captains the South Africa national team and also the Cell C Sharks. He plays club rugby for the Sharks in the Currie Cup. He generally plays as a flanker and a loose forward. In 2018,Kolisi was appointed captain of the Springboks,becoming the first black man to hold the position,and eventually leading the South African Rugby team to victory in the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final against England. In December 2019,Kolisi was named in New African magazine's list of 100 Most Influential Africans.
Lodewikus Theodorus "Theo" Oosthuizen is a former rugby union player who represented both South Africa and Namibia. He never played in a test match for South Africa,but played in four tour matches. He did play seven test matches for Namibia.

He was also one of South Africa's most prolific try-scoring wingers,post-isolation,with only Breyton Paulse(26) and Bryan Habana(53) scoring more tries. He is 7th on the all-time try-scoring list for the Springboks. Rossouw is currently the backline coach of the Bulls in Super rugby and the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup. He was known as "Slaptjips",apparently because the sight of his running legs was like potato chips slapping together. Pieter is the older brother of Chris Rossouw,who played flyhalf for Western Province and the Free State Cheetahs.
