Anna Menon is an American engineer scheduled to fly on Polaris Dawn, a private space mission. [1] Menon worked for NASA for seven years before joining SpaceX, where she works as a lead engineer of space operations.

Education

Menon earned a Bachelor of mathematics and Spanish degree from Texas Christian University and a Master of Science degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University. [2]

Menon was also a member of the Iota Lambda chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority at Texas Christian university.

Menon was a NASA biomedical flight controller for the International Space Station, assisting ISS crews from NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, and leading biomedical operations for Expedition 41 [3] [2] including ISS US EVA's 27 and 28. [4]

Menon is a Mission Director at SpaceX, where she helps the development of human spaceflight missions and works at SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne, California. She manages the execution of Dragon manufacturing and operates as Crew Communications Operator. [2] [5]

Menon is scheduled to fly on Polaris Dawn, a private spaceflight funded by billionaire Jared Isaacman. [6] [7] [8]

Personal life

Menon is married to Anil Menon, lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force, NASA astronaut and former SpaceX Medical Director. [9] They have two children. [10] Both she and her husband appeared in the final episode of the five-episode television documentary entitled Countdown: Inspiration4 Mission to Space , released on Netflix in September 2021. [11]

It was also the second crewed orbital flight launch by the United States since that of STS-135 in July 2011. Resilience launched on 16 November 2020 at 00:27:17 UTC on a Falcon 9 from Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A), carrying NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover and Shannon Walker along with JAXA astronaut Soichi Noguchi, all members of the Expedition 64 crew. Axiom Mission 1 was a privately funded and operated crewed mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The mission was operated by Axiom Space out of Axiom's Mission Control Center MCC-A in Houston, Texas. The flight launched on 8 April 2022 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The spacecraft used was a SpaceX Crew Dragon. The crew consisted of Michael López-Alegría, an American born in Spain and a professionally trained astronaut hired by Axiom, Eytan Stibbe from Israel, Larry Connor from the United States, and Mark Pathy from Canada.

Crew Dragon <i>Resilience</i> SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft

Crew Dragon Resilience is a Crew Dragon spacecraft manufactured by SpaceX and built under NASA's Commercial Crew Program. In November 2020, it was launched into orbit to the International Space Station as part of the Crew-1 mission. With crew prompting, Resilience docked autonomously to the station at 04:01 UTC on 17 November 2020, or Day 2 of the mission, marking the first operational docking of a Crew Dragon and the first operational docking of the Commercial Crew Program. The mission carried four additional members of Expedition 64 to the three already on station.
