San Joaquin County,officially the County of San Joaquin,is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census,the population was 779,233. The county seat is Stockton.

The Altamont Corridor Express is a commuter rail service in California,connecting Stockton and San Jose during peak hours only. ACE is named for the Altamont Pass,through which it runs. Service is managed by the San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission,and operations are contracted to Herzog Transit Services. The 86-mile (138 km) route includes ten stops,with travel time about 2 hours and 12 minutes end-to-end. In 2022,the line had a ridership of 389,100,or about 2,500 per weekday as of the third quarter of 2023. ACE uses Bombardier BiLevel Coaches,MPI F40PH-3C locomotives,and Siemens Charger locomotives.

As first responders arrived at the scene,Purdy committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. His victims were predominantly Southeast Asian refugees.

The Speed Freak Killers is the name given to serial killer duo Loren Herzog and Wesley Shermantine,together initially convicted of four murders —three jointly —and suspected in the deaths of as many as 72 people in and around San Joaquin County,California based on a letter Shermantine wrote to a reporter in 2012. They received the "speed freak" moniker due to their habitual methamphetamine abuse. Herzog committed suicide in 2012. Shermantine remains on death row in San Quentin State Prison,in San Quentin,California.
Michael Derrick Tubbs is an American politician who is currently serving as a special adviser for economic mobility and opportunity for Governor Gavin Newsom. A member of the Democratic Party,he previously served as the 79th mayor of Stockton,California from 2017 to 2021,and as a member of the Stockton City Council from the 6th District from 2013 until 2017.
Ann Johnston is an American politician who served as the 77th mayor of Stockton,California from 2009 until 2013. She ran for re-election in 2012 but was defeated by Anthony Silva.
Tom Patti is an American businessman and politician who is a member of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors. As an amateur boxer,Patti was training partners with Mike Tyson. After the death of Cus D'Amato,Patti became Tyson's manager and coach. He was a Republican candidate in the 2022 election in California's 9th congressional district.

Tinsley Island is a small island in the Sacramento–San Joaquin River Delta,in San Joaquin County,California,next to the Stockton Deepwater Shipping Channel. It was created in the 1930s,when dredging to improve the navigability of the San Joaquin River cut it off from Roberts Island. Since 1958,it has been owned by the St. Francis Yacht Club. In 1960,the club transported a lighthouse from San Francisco Bay to serve as its clubhouse,and in the same year began an annual "Stag Cruise";as of 2023,the club still owns the island and maintains a clubhouse there.

The 2024 California State Assembly election will be held on Tuesday,November 5,2024,with the primary election being held on March 5,2024. All of the seats of the California State Assembly will be elected as part of the 2024 California elections.
