Anurakthi is a Sanskrit film made in Kerala, India. The film is about the Indian art Koodiyattom. This is the first Sanskrit film to have a song. The song was shot in 3D, making the film the first 3D Sanskrit film. The film was screened at the 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa in 2017. [1] The film also won the special jury award for best regional film at the 5th Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF), Jaipur in 2018. [2]

Plot

The film revolves around a Punjabi dancer (Vani Vashishth) who arrives in Kerala to learn the ancient dance form Koodiyattam from a master (Kalamandalam Sivan Namboodiri). The master's son falls in love with the dancer, and later mistakes the relationship between his father and the student. [3] [4] [5] [1] [6] [7] [8]

Vanaprastham: The Last Dance is a 1999 Indo-French psychological drama period film in Malayalam-language that was directed by Shaji N. Karun. Gandhi Seva Sadan is a Kathakali institution located in Perur village, some 12 kilometres east of Ottapalam in Palakkad district of north-central Kerala in southern India. Kalamandalam Sivan Namboodiri is an Indian classical theatre performer, the first person from outside chakyar community to practice Koodiyattam, from Kerala. He was awarded the Padma Shri, in 2012, for his contributions to the art of Koodiyattam, by the Government of India.

The 48th International Film Festival of India was held on 20 to 28 November 2017 in Goa. "Celebrating the Future of Cinema" was set as the festival's theme and registrations were opened in early October 2017.

It is an adaptation of Kalidasa's work Abhijnana Shakuntalam. The film is produced by Dushyanth Sridhar and Srinivas Kannaa under Desika Daya Productions. The movie stars debutants Shubham Sahrawat and Payal Shetty in the leading roles. The movie was released on 12-Aug 2022 in BookMyShow Stream OTT platform commemorating the World Sanskrit Day.
