Arab Udupi Group was a group of restaurants serving Indian food in the United Arab Emirates . [1] The group was founded in 1978 by Kushala Shekhar Shetty with its first restaurant being located in Abu Dhabi. [2]

As of 2015, there were 15 restaurants in the chain in a number of UAE locations, mainly around Abu Dhabi. [3] [4] However, as of 2021, no functional restaurants are to be seen in Abu Dhabi, or any other emirate. It is not known whether this is related to the financial scandals which engulfed BR Sherry in 2020. There were also restaurants in Dubai and Sharjah.

Hindus are a significant minority in the United Arab Emirates and there are more than 660,000 Hindus living in the United Arab Emirates as of 2020. Hinduism is followed by migrant workers and employees working in the nation and officially there is no Hindu citizen in the UAE.

Provision of education in the UAE began shortly after the establishment of the federation with the inception of the first university in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates University. Since then, the country has progressed with efforts of ensuring high literacy rates, modern programs and women's share in education. It works on improving its youths education which is why the agenda 2021 has been set. The UAE currently devotes approximately 25 percent of total federal government spending to education. Indians in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) constitute the largest part of the population of the country. Over 3,420,000 Indian expats are estimated to be living in the UAE, which is over 38 percent of the total population of the UAE. Indian contact with the emirates that now constitute the UAE dates back several centuries, as a result of trade and commerce between the emirates and India. The UAE has experienced a tremendous increase in the population of resident Indians who initially migrated to the country as a result of opportunities in the petroleum. Among the notable UAE sports achievements is the 2002–03 AFC Champions League won by Al Ain FC who also finished second in the 2005 AFC Champions League. The UAE qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first and only time so far in 1990, the fourth Middle-Eastern country to have qualified for the World Cup after first Egypt, then, Kuwait, and Iraq. Popular traditional sports include horse and camel racing.

Bavaguthu Raghuram Shetty is an Indian-born businessman who is the founder and acquirer of a number of companies based in the United Arab Emirates, including Abu Dhabi-based NMC Health, Neopharma, BRS Ventures, and Finablr. Shetty's initial interest in 1975 was in hospitals and hospitality and has since diversified into pharmaceuticals, financial services, retail, advertising and information technology. He was included on the Forbes list of India's 100 Richest People in 2015 and was listed as the 42nd richest person in 2020.

Embassy of Indonesia, Abu Dhabi

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Abu Dhabi is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Indonesia also has a consulate general in Dubai that opened in February 2003. The first Indonesian ambassador to the UAE was Abdullah Fuad Rachman (1993–1996). The current ambassador, Husin Bagis, was appointed by President Joko Widodo on 25 February 2016.
